Status: offline 		I found this & many other posts on the internet calling NYC Mayor Bloomberg a Dhimmigogue.

I need help understanding what a Dhimmigogue is.... is it based on the word 'dhimmi'... 'cos as far as i know 'dhimmi' is any non-muslim person following the book or prayers, i.e. Jews & Christians.

So, is Dhimmigouge supposed to be an insult??? If yes, please explain... (please explain if not too)

Status: offline 		"Dhimmitude" is a term of abuse the American right is currently fond of for any non muslim who feels that the muslims may have a right to practise their religion without inteference or being constantly expected to apologise for the events in 2001. (Which, at the moment, tends to mean anybody who doesn't think that all muslims globally are supporters of al queda.) "Dhimmigogue" appears to be a pun based on that.

Status: offline 		It`s because Mayor Bloomberg supports the 1st Amendment un-conditionally, that he`s being attacked.

Right now,that`s not politically correct.

He`s no coward though and won`t abandon his values.

It`s not just righty-one-handed typists either.foxnews and their fearmonger-talkingheads have been doing political organizing around resisting the proposed Mosque in lower Manhattan.

Just one more example of rightwing antipathy toward our Constitution and American values.

Status: offline 		My guess is a pun on "demagogue," and coupled with what Moonhead offered, likely a mockery/insult along similar lines.

Now it`s used by the radical right to name themselves.

A quick google on this suggests that the term "dhimmitude" is originally a French neologism. (Used by the French right, many of whom are so rabid that they make big Ahnuld look tolerant by comparison, to suggest that any talk of compromise with Islam is buckling from some weak willed coward who'd be happy to live as a second class citizen in a global Caliphate.) I wonder if the American right would use the term so eagerly if they knew that it had been thought up by a cheese eating surrender monkey?
