Maybe people would pay more attention to this sort of thing if the whole of the American right hadn't shouted itself hoarse crying "wolf" over all of the most trivial, or in a fair few cases downright fictional, nonsense imaginable for the last year and a half?

Michelle Obama takes a private trip to Spain, along with 6 others, including her daughter, and is willing to pay part of the cost, as did her friends.

Laura Bush goes on an african safari with her daughters, but it was regarded as an "official trip" with photo ops.

lets see... Michelle admits its a private trip and pays part of it out of pocket.

Laura's is official.. and we pay the whole tab.

But, ya know what? I didnt care back then, and i dont care now. They went on vacation with their family. We pick up the tab, they pay part... whatever. Being in that limelight 24/7 has got to be exhausting. Im glad they got away... all of them. Being the First Family cannot be easy on any family... this is the price we pay to that family for giving up, literally, four years at a stretch.

Again, taz - for the fifth or sixth time now, Bush didnt preach to us about the need for us to "sacrifice" in the name of the lefts hallowed global warming theology or the evils of evil greedy "fat cat" capitalists. The thread is not concerned necessarily with the hundreds of thousands of our tax dollars spent on these trips to Hawaii and Europe, etc etc etc, the 60 Ritz-Carlton rooms or the finest dining on the planet.

The issue is the hypocrisy. Queen Antoinette getting her spending groove on, while the nation is in deepening recession and King Obama lectures to us about the sins of wealth and living the good life.

Status: offline 		So the hypocrisy is the thing, where Bush vetoed a childrens health care bill because it was not fiscally conservative after running up the biggest spending spree in americas history.  Or Gingrich on gay rights and marraige, with a gay sister, or McCains pork spending for AZ in the form of a 10 million law center for a buddy, or the 14.3 for a buffer zone around the air force base. Or spending 5000 dollars (as a fiscal conservative to drape his lipsticked pig in pork?)  or..............

again, hypocrisy is rampant, even you and I engage in it.

Am i mistaken or werent we bought out of two recessions during the Bush administration?
