I was wondering if there might be any Dommes here in Calgary that might mentor my very shy friend into becoming a switch or a top? Both the FAQs threads in this forum and at the top of the main message board page offer a link for a website that lists groups/organizations all over the world. Also, as far as books, if you do a search for "BDSM booklist" (by ResidentSadist) you'll find a wealth of printed information available.

(fast reply) I'd suggest the OP's friend start by attending the local munch. They have a yahoo group under albertasocietyforkink - they are the ASK. I'm not sure where they are meeting of late but the organizers are good folks and should be able to point her in the right direction. As for folks who could mentor her ... I guess she'd have to figure out a bit more of what she is about. I can think of a few I would not recommend but naming names on this board would not be allowed - lol - ... and I wouldn't anyway simply due to my own set of personal rules. Good luck to the OP's friend and maybe the OP might want to tag along and meet some folks as well. BDSM and being a Dominant woman is not simply about punishment. Wickad

Firstly, this is something the lady in question needs to have stirrings within herself that tell her she would like to do this. Otherwise, at best she will become a Service Top under the control of the kinky boyfriend, that may/may not actually satisfy his needs. Second, it could be the thought of "punishing" her bf that is making her so shy about it! We have other threads arguing the fors and againsts a punishment dynamic, but she might find it easier to think in terms of play. Sounds a whole lot more fun! And if he has submissive or service tendencies as well as kinky bottoming, phrase it in terms of her being able to get him to do what she wants ... that usually sounds really good to the newbie Domme! I think that sexysea should be doing other things in her life first. Not filing charges on a man that raped her because she met him at a BDSM get together is just the wrong thing to do. She is setting up some other woman to go through what she went through.
