Hi everyone,

I am on lifetime aspirin regimen and find it takes about two weeks for bruises to fade. Does it normally take this long for someone on aspirin? How quickly do people who are not on aspirin heal? Just curious. Thank you!

Its a blood thinner, so, yes, it will take longer for any bruise to heal.

My bruises heal about as normal, but I bruise more easily.

Since I am not the recipient of impact play, it is not normally a problem for me.

Depending on the depth and size of the bruising, 2 weeks is pretty normal. If the bruising is occurred on a bony prominence like the tail bone, sacrum, heels, after more than 4 hours in one position then it is not really a bruise but a type of wound called a suspected deep tissue injury. But if they are induced from externally to surface tissue or tissue just below the surface then you are on a normal time line for healing. Aspirin is probably helping to bring your blood to normal levels of clotting. If high doses you will bruise more easily but also heal more quickly.

Thank you everyone. It's just 81 mg a day, but what a difference it can make in how quickly/easily a bruise appears.
