The neighbor has two tomatoes turning red on his plants.  YAY!

We were given some tomatoes and cucumbers and one pepper yesterday.  I have not decided how to cook them yet.

How is your tomato crop?

Very difficult to use. All my sluts are covered in ketchup now, for one thing.

Okay, seriously now. Here in the Vancouver Canada area, all we got from April through June was cold rainy weather and wind. July was warm (not hot) and sunny. August has been back to cold rainy weather again. So my tomatoes are pitiful. They didn't even grow enough to withstand the deer, who just came along and bit all the plants off at the ground because they were so tiny. They're currently trying to regrow, but at this late stage in the season, and with no sunlight, there's really no chance for them. It's been a dismal year here for growing. The corn crops we're famous for in this area might not even produce this year. No sunlight.

I voted average, but compared to last year its awesomwe! Last year was a festival of blossom end rot.

I grew mostly cherry type tomatoes this year. You cant see the leaves for the tomatoes. I go pick them with my sea salt shaker in my hand.

No tomatoes this year. It's been way too hot and dry for them. One or two started to grow right after the plants were transplanted into the soil (which, around here, is basically sugary beach sand with peat that decomposes way too quickly) then quickly dropped off the vine. No more have grown. Last year at this time, in the same soil conditions, we had a nice crop. This year... nada.

Of course, the 100+ degree heat for the past 40 or so consecutive days isn't helping.

I dont think our summer here has been any hotter then usual.    My crop is dismal.  I hope I get enough to even pay for the plants.

This is our first real summer since the summer we moved here.  So, it is decent.  Could be better.  I planted a orange tomato plant this year.  It is producing the most fruit out of all of the other tomatoes.  Huge orange tomatoes.  Not quite as tasty as red tomatoes.
The cherry tomatoes are doing great...lots of salads.

No time for gardening this year.....I've been buying at the local fresh produce stands.

i would if i could Shar. They don't travel well.

It seems the normal tomatoes are not doing well this year, but the Cherry tomatoes are making up for it. The problem is...you cant do too much with them.
