DesertWanderer -> Stories for Beginners? (8/10/2010 7:59:27 PM)

Recently one of my very good friends professed an interest in BDSM and kink!  In order to foster such interests, I have been linking her stories which I have found which I thought might be helpful in expanding her horizons.

Do you have any favorite stories which tend to be a bit more on the mild end of things rather than the extreme?  Or just favorite stories in general ;)

Please link them if you care to share!

Thanks

I am confused....if your friend has expressed an interest in bdsm why not give her the links for CM and some other websites so that she can learn more for herself?

Do you have a local community? Maybe a munch would be a good place to start. I think the more people realize that we are all, ok, mostly normal people ;) the easier it is for people to grow their interest. One thing I would suggest is to make sure their interest is real.

I'd suggest that internet porno is probably the worst thing you can show a novice who's starting to develop an interest in this stuff. Maybe you could get her one of the primer type books instead? The Dossie easton ones are very helpful, and Ishmael Skye's Free Wealin' A Guide To Kinky Sex is even better, albeit very British.

I'd second wandersalone's suggestion, and DaddyP's idea about a munch is a good idea as well.

Well, the stories which I was able to find her have certainly gotten her imagination going!  She is very open, however she is looking to expand her imagination which has been previously completely shut off to such topics.  She is more of the intellectual rather than social type so unfortunately I think we'll hold off on the munches, especially since I wouldn't be able to take her and she would probably be too afraid to go alone.  Maybe in good time though ;)

I like the idea of the novels.  I am sure she will eat that up.

I was thinking more of the "how to" books than novels, to be honest. If she is enjoying the online stuff, though, I'm sure she'll love the print fiction as well.
Which sites is she looking at? There's loads of bdsm stuff on literotica.com.

I think a nice mixture of how-to that is balanced by a little fiction isn't bad. It allows her to balance the fantasy against the reality of what truthfully occurs. Showing her the hot ideal that is rarely realized only creates the likelihood of errant expectations and a very big letdown.

Very true. And that's without going into the amount of online porn that seems to be written by people who've never even talked to a member of the opposite sex, let alone done anything kinky...

Have her read erotica or articles written by women, that's probably the best tip.
If she's exploring femdom, my site (akashaweb.com) is celebrating 15 years of existence this summer (yikes! time flies) and all my erotica is original.
Also, check out amityworld.com

If she wants mild, have her read the Sleeping Beauty Trilogy. Very florid and gothic, but fun and hot.

If she wants heavier stuff, there is tons of stuff on Amazon from Blue Moon Press, etc.

These are all fiction; I am not addressing non fiction here.

DesFIP -> RE: Stories for Beginners? (8/11/2010 2:26:49 PM)

I would not recommend fiction but nonfiction books. Is she interested in d/s or s & m or bondage or what? Is she a top or a bottom?

Anyway, depending on her interests I would recommend some of the following: The Loving Dominant; Erotic Bondage, S & M 101, Screw the Roses, The Topping Book, The Bottoming Book, When Someone You Love is Kinky. Also here and fetlife.com. I would not be attempting to tailor her learning to what you like, but instead give her the ability to learn what she likes.
