Utter nonsense.  The jobs started getting shipped out of our country...LONG before W was around.  Let me think who signed NAFTA????  oh yeah, that would have been Clinton.

Utter nonsense, next time backup your assertions with evidence..

You are absolutely wrong. It was Brian Mulroney and Ronald Reagan who negotiated NAFTA. And after they were finished negotiating the agreement they sang the song when Irish eyes are smiling.

September 26, 1985

Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney announces that Canada will try to reach a free trade agreement with the US.

December 10, 1985

President Reagan officially informs Congress about his intention to negotiate a free trade agreement with Canada under the authority of trade promotion. Referred to as fast track, trade promotion authority is an accelerated legislative procedure which obliges the House of Representatives and the Senate to decide within 90 days whether or not to establish a trade trade unit. No amendments are permitted.

Take your own advice. NAFTA was signed by Clinton in 1994, long after Reagan was gone. The FTA with Canada was Reagans, and you should be happy about it. Canada would still be a backwater shithole if it werent for trade with the US.

Arpig -> RE: The Phony Right Wing Outrage over Obama Cutting Food Stamps (8/13/2010 2:15:10 AM)

Sorry brain, but your wrong...Mulroney & Reagan signed the CAFTA (Canada/US). NAFTA, which expanded the free trade zone to include Mexico was signed in 1992 by Bush I, Mulroney, & Salinas and came into effect in 1994, while Clinton was President.

Lucylastic -> RE: The Phony Right Wing Outrage over Obama Cutting Food Stamps (8/13/2010 5:42:35 AM)

Unfortunately Clinton will always get blamed because he didnt repeal it but signed it.when it became law, so its HIS
Facts be damned.
Nothing new there right?

How is quoting shit from 1985 going to prove you were not lying when you said "people are out of work because W shipped all the jobs overseas and tanked the economy"?

That ain't Nancy Reagan.

Archer -> RE: The Phony Right Wing Outrage over Obama Cutting Food Stamps (8/13/2010 6:14:29 AM)

Still ignoring the fact that the money taken away from the food stamp program in 2014 is a lie because they know it will be funded in some other bill later. That the thing that makes the bill funded is an intentional deception, that anyone with half a brain knows is an intentional deception.

mnottertail -> RE: The Phony Right Wing Outrage over Obama Cutting Food Stamps (8/13/2010 6:42:43 AM)

well, if it doesn't get funded before november, what with the dems running scared and panicked and going to lose 7500 seats in the house and 360 in the senate, and Obama and all the governors going to have to resign, who will be the ones to run the deception and fund the bill?

LadyEternity -> RE: The Phony Right Wing Outrage over Obama Cutting Food Stamps (8/13/2010 7:58:12 AM)

(I used to post here under the name BloodLuna for all those who used to know me. For those that are new to me - Hi, I'm Eternity)

I'm going to put myself out here to get flamed like a filet minon. But my heart says I have to speak up. Everyone on both party lines will probably get mad at me. It's ok, pregnancy hormones give me an excuse for murder . . .remember that :P Here we go.

these last two pages of blame are why nothing gets done. The dual party nature of the country that is designed so that no one agrees on anything is why nothing gets done. The fact that everyone is to busy arguing about what should be done instead of looking around and seeing the absolute horror that millions are living in is part of the problem. The fact that "acts/laws" aren't kicking in for years when those living in horror are in need now is part of the problem.

My wife and I have 2 children and one on the way. My wife is a licensed phlebotomist who has been looking for work since being laid off 2 years ago. (and yes, she's tried EVERYWHERE from mcdonalds to hardware stores, grocery stores, every minimum wage anything she could find. At one store there were 150 applicants to interview for 2 positions) I am a nanny working towards my state day care license but due to complications of pregnancy that landed me in a wheelchair for the next 9 weeks I can no longer work either. No one wants a pregnant wheelchair bound nanny.

food stamps and those who receive them: We receive less than $350 a month in foodstamps for a family of 4 plus pregnancy. Have you ever tried to feed your family on $87 a week????? Have you ever gone without meat so your two year old can have it??? Do you think we're lazy people who just refuse to work because we can live off the system? We don't have cable, we have one landline and no cell phone, and our internet is necessary because 90% of jobs now require online applications. So it's not like we're living a life of luxury on your tax dollars. The system doesn't make people want to stay home and live off of it. Do you think I want my children to live this way? My wife goes out every day looking for work and has for 2 years. And she spends most of her night online doing aps. We are currently living on $400 a month. Can you do that? Would you want to? And the government wants to CUT aid?

My story is not unique. There are millions out of work right now. We are just one family. Meanwhile Washington and the parties bicker and stall each other and debate over what they should do in 2012, in 2014?? There are people in OUR country starving, watching their children go hungry, sitting in the dark because they can't afford their electric bill. RIGHT NOW. Not because they're lazy, or living off of unemployment or what little the government gives you to eat on. But because everyone with the power to change things is too busy fighting party lines. I'm not passing that law or that act because your a democrat, or a repub, or a purple buffalo. Not because the act or law is dumb or doesn't make sense, but because of party lines.

And it's divided American citizens against each other. Instead of fighting for each other and our rights as Americans we're fighting our "party lines"

Mean while, we're sending billions to a foreign war, "drug wars" that aren't succeeding and tax cuts for the rich. While people in our own neighborhoods are starving.

2 pages of blaming and name calling and insults on this post. Not one suggestion on how to change things. Just like Washington. I adore alot of you, but that's why nothing gets done.

Obama has the majority, why can't he get shit done?

Not enough of one...needs 60 votes to get it past their corrupt, unconstitutional,  non-fillibuster.

But hey, if we cut food stamps, who will feed the poor on wall street ?

Oh, I am sorry...wall street gets their welfare in the form of $mult-billion bonuses. Maybe that makes them ineligible...but I am not sure.
