Where in the wide wide world of Femdomery are the acknowledged Lady single-tail experts? You know, like Singletail-Larry, or Snakewhip-Bob, or Coachwhip-Steve, or Bullwhip-Marty...we actually do have a Singletail-Larry here in Denver...[;)] A guy will pick a toy up and work at it until he becomes so good at it that people in the community at large say "Man, that guy's singletail shit is tight!" People will seek him out specifically to be whipped! The closest thing I have seen thus far is Madame Butterfly (who makes fabu rope BTW) and who seems to be very intent on making her singletail shit tight! Watched her do a scene at Thunder with a girl on a cross, and the times I have seen her in the past, her singletail is not far from her hand. From my admittedly limited perspective, Ladies seem to be much more interested in a variety than that sort of "toy focus" and "rep" that a lot of male Doms go for...do you all agree? Also, what differences are there in using a singletail when you are in a female body? Is upper arm strength an issue? Have any of you found that whips of a certain length work better for women? Oh Otters. I would simply SWOOON a great big swoon if I could have those singletail chops!! But, I lack binocular vision. I will never be able to do all that fancy schmancy pick-the-mini-clothespin-off-the-foreskin stuff. [&o] I LOVE my singletails with a big big love. When I am an Elderly Elder, I will be snapping that puppy from my wheelchair! A guy in Texas named James Gentry made mine, and it is Big Love. Due to my vision issues, I stick with three footers. A local lady is going to make me a matched set of two-footers when I haz the monies to pay her. I have a nice nylon whip made by our own BoiJen, and I am really pleased with it. (Yeah, SUPPORT THE BOI!!!) I took the cracker off and I use it more like the "dog whip" type. It takes really minimal effort to use a singletail, that's why they are such a go-to. (Canes, also---easy to use, big payoff.) I do not indulge in the cracking noises that are just showy and annoying to others. I am playing with a human, not herding cattle. It is SO FUN!!! Just a flick of the wrist, really, and you get the most excellent reactions~ if you are REALLY good, like a local lady is, you can spell your name, or write cunning slogans!

I admit that I probably fall into the 'jack of all trades' type rather than one specific proficiency. I do have My whip, which is 4 ft, as well as one that MP owns that he never practiced with, so basically, I have two. (I refuse to endorse him playing with it to top anyone, as he's not done the work to do it safely.) If I recall correctly, I wrote a post some time back about good practice methods which I actually enjoyed. The upper arm strength wasn't really an issue for Me. If it had been, I'm sure it would have built up over practice. At this time, I'm not interested in going any longer that 4 ft. Considering My height, it's a length that seems to really work for Me. Of course, I have a 4 ft slapper as well as matched dragon tails that are the same, so it might just be a case of working with a length I was already comfortable with. MP bought My baby for Me last year at Folsom, as Mr S Leather was just down the block. Here's the link Mr. S Leather -- The Whistler Single Tail but, of course, Mine is black.

Hmmm.... the female body... I don't think there is a lot of difference, there are many good things about single tails.. and one of them is that its about finesse and skill and not necessarily strength... that works very well for me. I received my second (and continuously owned) single tail almost ten years ago now on my 40th.. its a black and purple Joe Wheeler 4 foot... given to me by my ex.. during the first few years I had it, I was traveling about two to three weeks a month and I took it everywhere.. and whacked the crap out of hotel pillows and curtains.. grin ... I practiced a LOT. One more things on female/male or femme/butch body and single tail differences.. when I first learned to use mine, before I got to any workshops.. I had two butches, out in the parking lot of my fav play space trying to teach me. The funniest part about it was "ever play soft ball?" me: nope... "swing a baseball bat" .. uhmm.. nope ..."ok,... fly fish?????" ... all of that to try and teach me how to throw it -- I'd never done those things. I'm still pretty good with my single tail.. and I love it.

Agrees with LP, not for the first time, its nothing to do with upper arm strength. My x was pretty good with a single tail, until he decided, the harder i swing the more it will hurt, was the absolute opposite. Finesse works better.

Heh...thanks LadyH for "pimpin'" my product. Ma'am likes whips for wrapping. She enjoys marks and Her "artwork". So, as with rather large rubber bands, for Her playing with a whip is about the tiger stripe ending. Wrapping also gives a rather big bang for the buck without a whole lot of effort or aim needed. As a top, I LOVE to use whips...hell, as a bottom I love whips (ask Kal lol-ps. still working on lung expansion). And of course, I love making them. I like working on different throwing techniques and seeing how they might be integrated into SM play. One female presenter has a class called "Whip dancing", though it's a little too artsy for my taste. The thing about whips most people who don't use them don't know is that they're really incredibly easy to use and doesn't take long to learn. The unfortunate part is that I believe many FemDoms steer clear of whips (at least in public) because there's far too many Het male Tops who think they need to teach the "little ladies" a thing or two about the big bad dangerous whip. It could cut ya, ya know. boi

I've not learnt to use one yet, because I'm kind of skeered of them (I think I remember MsKitty teasing me for that :P). They do look like a lot of fun, though. I figure I have time to learn [:)]

While I can't speak for Female Dommes, I can tell you how I've interpreted what I've observed: When male Doms talk about a previous scene, they often focus most on toys and what they do with them. Female dommes tend focus on the interaction, intensity and styles of play. On the other hand, in NJ/NYC/Phil area, we have some women who are known as experts with specific toys such as floggers or needles. (Actually, I've never even heard of a male top who is known for needle play.)

Thanks, Kal, both of you are too kind ;-) I hope we'll make it up there again sometime soon to visit. I think the reason I like whips is knowing how and why they do what they do. It's a very simple, grade school level, scientific concept. The conservation of energy theory (thank Einstein folks) says that within a closed system, energy is continuous. The chemical energy in your body is created by nutrients in your body (food, water, sunlight, etc). That energy gets transformed into kinetic energy when using any kind of tool or moving. You generate heat and/or you move... no matter what, the same amount of energy exists all the time. Now the issue of momentum. when momentum is created by the Top's arm/shoulder/wrist/etc it flows "out" through the whip. As the whip tappers and the momentum begins to travel through a smaller "mass", because the same amount of energy still exists the whip moves faster. So by the time you end up at the cracker, you're breaking the sound barrier in terms of the speed of the whip...hence the "crack"! Whips are the ONLY tool that humans have developed where we can maintain our physical positions and contact with an object moving faster than the speed of sound (more than 750 miles an hour). That's fuckin neat! Now that we're talking about energy, spiritually I believe this to be true as well. The whole interconnected, continuous motion and energy thing is exciting. THINK about it! Tops, you're delivering THAT energy in a way that can ONLY happen specific to the "tool" you're using..the whip. Canes may break asses and skin but they don't break the sound barrier while in the process. It's gotta be one of the most intense forms of energetic delivery I can think of. Lol...oh man! I'm all worked up! I know, I'm geek or something but I LOVE this stuff. It's all really simple and, for many of my own selfish reasons, I wish more FemDoms were into whips. boi

There is a prodomme up here in Dallas or was name of Kay...she has had a boy named James who makes a might fine whip.. I believe last time I checked he had over a year wait on one of his ...my husbands girl has a snake whip made by James that I crack he and I love... Kay did like the body inverted when she used her bullwhip..I saw her one time do two subs at once they were bound face to face..shudders it was hot.. There is another Lady goes by Victoria who did alot of wrapping when I saw her play.. that was always interesting. We had a vanilla whip cracking group run by Sebastian before he moved to Houston..now there was somebody who can handle whip right..and was always willing to train you.. Whips actually seem to be a big thing in the Dallas area must be the cowboy way down here..

Ma'am used to have a matched pair from James before some douchebag broke into the car and stole the case they and some knives were in a few years ago. His stuff is AWESOME!
