Too bad he couldn't have continued his fight for reason over demagoguery in Congress. But it took losing his primary and the election to come out publicly about the racism and bigotry within the Tea Party Movement.

GOP Politician Confirms What Was Long Suspected: Republicans Intentionally Feed the Racism, Anger, and Paranoia of the Far Right

Rep. Bob Inglis (R-S.C.) is a casualty of the tea party-ization of the Republican Party. Given the decisive vote against him in June, it's clear he was wiped out by a political wave that he could do little to thwart. "Emotionally, I should be all right with this," he says. And when he thinks about what lies ahead for his party and GOP House leaders, he can't help but chuckle. With Boehner and others chasing after the tea party, he says, "that's going to be the dog that catches the car."

"They were upset with me," Inglis recalls. "They are all Glenn Beck watchers." "They say, 'Bob, what don't you get? Barack Obama is a socialist, communist Marxist who wants to destroy the American economy so he can take over as dictator. Health care is part of that. And he wants to open up the Mexican border and turn [the US] into a Muslim nation.'" -- Inglis didn't know how to respond.

Well, sure.  Bob Bennet got kicked out as being too liberal.

And the fact that working with the opposition party is considered a cardinal sin... get ready for gridlock and posturing.  We get to pay these clowns hundreds of thousands a year apiece to blame the other party.

I hope John McCain loses to JD Hayward because he is too liberal. It will be harder for the Republicans to do to get Hayward elected. I don't know what the point is for McCain to run again anyway at his age. You would think guy would want to enjoy the rest of his life.

He's set for life. He's only running because he likes it, or he feels a need to keep contributing.  Nothing wrong with that at all.

Why would you, of all people, dislike a pol for being too liberal?

The same could be said for the late Ted Kennedy.
Or:
Frank Lautenburg,
Arlen Spector
Jim Bunning
Richard Lugar
Dianne Feinstein
Chuck Grassley
Orin Hatch
Richard Shelby

or the 9 other Senators who are older than McCain.

Really Brain, sometimes you just floor me.

I just want somebody more reliable to win the seat. John McCain has flip-flopped on too many issues lately like immigration. I want to replace him with somebody more liberal whose vote can be relied upon. I think Hayward is too right-wing to get elected.

I don't like him either, however, I would like him replaced with some one more Libertarian like. [:D]

Brain -> RE: GOP Politician Confirms What Was Long Suspected: Republicans Intentionally Feed the Racism, Anger, a (8/14/2010 7:07:42 PM)

Actually, you make a good point. They are all too old, maybe they should have maximum age like 75. I think I got the impression McCain was older than the others because of his running for president.

The other thing about John McCain is I don't think he's too bright. The others are older but I think they have a higher intellectual capacity.

If JD knocks off McCain that would be fine with me.

Two quick points first Arlen SPECTER is out he lost his primary to Joe Sestak, second SPECTOR is Phil, the record producer in jail for homicide.

Politically,
Some Knucklehead in NJ.

Edited for spelling

TY for the spelling correction pogo.

2 quick points on Specter:

While Specter did , indeed, lose the Dem. primary he is still a sitting Senator. And will be until the winner of this Nov. primary is sworn in.

My point to Brain was that McCain is not the only older Senator who has  " run again anyway at his age ". And certainly not the oldest sitting Senator. And Specter did run again at his age, he just lost.

Brian:

I'm going to tread a little off topic here but:

I don't have any issues with the age of some one running for office. I think many many people are still savvy and productive in their older years. I hope to be one of them like my Dad. He may not have been a politician but he was an Engineer and didn't retire until 6 months before his death at the age of 80.  However, I don't think a politicians should be able to hold the same office from cradle to grave. Term limits, that's the way to go, IMO.

Brian, would you care to elaborate upon McCain's flip-flopping on a more detailed specific level in regards to immigration and other issues?

I have great news for you brain. I just heard that McCain has no intentions of running for office in Canada so your wish is going to come true.

The recent flip flopping doesn't worry me half as much as the massive idological u turn he managed before the 2008 campaign. Remember that candidate McCain the chimp spent most of the 2000 primaries taking the piss out of as not being conservative enough? I much preferred him to the born again neocon who stood in 2008...

cuckoldmepls -> RE: GOP Politician Confirms What Was Long Suspected: Republicans Intentionally Feed the Racism, Ange (8/15/2010 8:25:46 AM)

Got news for you folks. The democratic party is the party of racists, since they use race as a crutch. The only true way to eliminate racism is to forget about race, and view every legal citizen as an American. Even the NAACP is racist since they only lobby for legislation that primarily benefits them. The black Caucus in Congress is also racist, since they won't allow white members.

This is why republicans at one time were trying to eliminate affirmative action, but soon realized the racist wouldn't allow it.

THELADY -> RE: GOP Politician Confirms What Was Long Suspected: Republicans Intentionally Feed the Racism, Ange (8/15/2010 9:34:39 AM)

a real quick but by NO MEANS  complete,  recap of history...

democrats opposed repeal of slavery
democrats started the KKK
democrats instated  and opposed ending jim crow laws
democrats opposed desegregation

MLK was a republican.

A black gal in Atl. called a radio show  last week and told how she realized the dems encouraged and always reminded her she was African American.  republicans reminded her she was American. She started a tea party group to help spread the word that Americans need to stick together and protect this great country of ours.

when that senator, what ever his name was, the oldest one in congress, the one that had to have oxygen and a wheel chair to get around,  died just recently, bill clinton  spoke at his funeral and said the guy was a KKK member but he only did it cos that was the only way her could get elected. BULL SHIT, the man recruited for the KKK, was as raciest as they came, but we are expected to excuse that, after all he was a democrat and only republicans are raciest.
