Sophia, I don't want the stitching to show when it's all done I want it to look as natural as possible and not like someone sewed it there . Zig zags will show and require more room on the shirt edge because you'd have to place it high enough up that it can zig zag from the ribbon edge to the hem than simple strait stitch. I did a test run on a test piece of very wide ribbon, it looks nice enough, except that I didn't use matching thread and bobbin so you can see every single stitch. But since it's a test piece that's ok, i think. quote:

The reason the zig zag works better than straight is it keeps the ribbon flatter. Do a bit if testing first if you can. Its the length of the stitch that's got some play in it for you. I in general use a wider stitch for ribbon. 6-8.
