Hippiekinkster -> Stockman slams Gooptard fiscal radicals (8/12/2010 9:19:54 PM)

What else can one call Mitch McConnell, who would rather see the country go down in Greek flames rather than raise taxes 3% on the rich?
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/01/opinion/01stockman.html?_r=1

"But the new catechism, as practiced by Republican policymakers for decades now, has amounted to little more than money printing and deficit finance — vulgar Keynesianism robed in the ideological vestments of the prosperous classes.

This approach has not simply made a mockery of traditional party ideals. It has also led to the serial financial bubbles and Wall Street depredations that have crippled our economy. More specifically, the new policy doctrines have caused four great deformations of the national economy, and modern Republicans have turned a blind eye to each one."

Yes, yes, I know David Stockman is a RINO and a Socialist and the NYT is left of Pravda. But he's right. The GOP has done more harm to this country than OBL.

"... it’s a pity that the modern Republican Party offers the American people an irrelevant platform of recycled Keynesianism when the old approach — balanced budgets, sound money and financial discipline — is needed more than ever. "

I am not sure the country will go down in flames if the tax cuts are reinstated.

I may be wrong but I don't think to many conservatives are Keynesians.

As Richard Nixon said, when he signed the bill taking us off the gold standard, "We're all Kenyesians now."

TrickyDicky

Why change dicks in the middle of a screw?
Vote for Nixon in '72!

I am not sure what the left sees, surely they have blinders on and they keep them on so they have an excuse not to see past what they are told to believe.

I agree with ur last statement, but tell me please, what part of the current trippling of the deficit is balanced?

want to point out things done wrong by dems? in carters admin. the govt set up a way for people to buy homes with no money down, gotta give the poor a fair chance...that led to the s&l bubble. this model was revived at the end of clintons term, and led to the current housing bubble. fanny/freddie
both democratic ideas has been cooking the books for a long time, they have been and continue to be bailed out by the current admn. some tried to have this looked into but rep. barney frank (who's boyfriend was a top exect for freddy and walked away with 90 million in bonuses) stopped any investagation. I watched frontline the other night and they were telling about OTC dirivites(sp?) I am not even gonna claim I understand what they are, but its something to do with money swaps between banks, out side the public trading and is totally unregulated (sounds suspiciously like laundering) it began in clintons admn. and when ms. born stumbled on to it and tried to being it to light clinton admn. shut her down. it is still totally unregulated. oh and one of the people on the board that shut ms, born down was tax cheat timmothy githner.

balanced budget sound money, finincal displine.....

I don't see either side doing it.

So the trillions of dollars worth of funny-money financial intruments pimped by Goldman et alia, based on mortgages, had nothing to do with the collapse of the mortgage-backed securities bubble? It was all the fault of some low-income conmen who forced mortgage bankers to give them loans?

You aren't worth the time it would take to explain how mortgage-backed securities worked.

After all, you think the person whose quote you quoted is a "leftist". That's worth about 487 Duhs.

How come you have the same BS avatar as Cuckold?

thishereboi -> RE: Stockman slams Gooptard fiscal radicals (8/15/2010 7:33:20 AM)

gooptard?

Where you trying to type gop and got so excited about the cute little insult that you mistyped?

And what exactly is that?

A retarded conservative?

Personally I never liked the word retard, but it seems to be a favorite when slamming the other guy. I wonder why no one bitches about that?

don't know what you read..... but I never said the person I quoted was a leftists..... "I said I don't know the the left sees"

and I think a lot of things went into this recession, not the least of which was the democrats pushing mortgages for people who can not afford mortgages. that is just one part of the problem.  never said the republicans did not do anything stupid, or that some of them did not vote for it too......

unlike our president who voted for the war and tarp but blames the republicans for the physical down fall, I believe they both played their parts.
