We gots new phones this morning, and I cannot abide the ringtones that are built in. I also HATE the phone, so I needed tones that made me NOT want to smash the phone with a hammer. My most favourite ringtone in the UNIVERSE is the Futurama theme music, and I am fingers-crossed that I can have it on the new phone. I had Lust for Life (Iggy Pop) on the blackberry. How could you not be happy hearing, "Here comes Johhny In again, WITH THE LIQUOR AND DRUGS!! And the SEX MACHINE!!!" coming out of your phone. (Yes they are indeed Used To Me at work.)

So, what's your ringtone? Do you do that assigning special ringtones to special people?

Inquiring minds!

(ps! I can haz TEXT now! I coughed up for $5/mo for 250 texts.)

I have Company B's "Fascinated" for my phone calls and Herbie Hancocks "Rock It" for text messages.
I love these songs (great for dancing!) and felt that they wouldnt be confused with anyone elses phone ringing

I am sooooooo not a tech nerd.

I have one of the pre-programmed ringtone. Just one, for all calls. Nothing special for texts, just some pre-ordained ba-beep.

Sad, I know.

Mine is the old style telephone ringing one for calls & beeps for texts.  But there's a lady who announces who is calling or texting & whether they are calling from home or their cell.  I love it when Red calls because she pronounces it "Read".  lmao

I have the same ringtone for everyone, it's the closest thing to jazz on the pre-programmed choices.

Linea's phone loves me best is all.

Sorry, LadyH. I have T-Mobile. I don't know how Verizon works but it should be similar to the way T-Mobile operates. If you have trouble with selecting and installing a ringtone from the phone itself, the Verizon website should be a simpler way to install a ringtone without using your phone. Basically, you find one you like, select it, pay for it, give the site your phone's number, hit "Send", and it gets uploaded to your phone, which then (supposedly) auto installs it.

Then again, maybe Verizon's site is set up in no way the same as T-Mobile's.

Oh... my familiar calls use Richard Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries". Otherwise, it's "Ode to Joy". Both are pre-installed ringtones that came with the phone.

Yeah there is a fab Vcast site... it's the SEARCH feature that is covered in failsauce. It's hard to find something not "current", and while I do listen to the alt/punk, I don't know the club music that the young folks listen to!

A friend of mine has Steve Buscemi's voice saying, Dude, phone's ringin'. Want! Because I HATES THE PHONE. The house phone has rung so many times today, I have nearly ripped it from the wall. Srsly.

And what is with ring BACK tones??? Why would I want someone to hear MY choice of sound coming from THEIR phone? Except my golden voice, of course.

When the cell was functional, I had:

-The Sons of Anarchy theme song as the regular tone.
-Choke Me Spank Me Pull My Hair (Xhibit) for the kinky men I know.
-Beautiful (Eminem) for an ex.
-Stewie for my Mom and other Mother-like figures.
-Jaws for regular texts
-Stewie's Sexy Party for the FWB's.
-The Imperial March for the Geeky friends.
-Freak Bitch (Boondox) for those sexy, slutty days.

I use www.myxer.com to get my ringtones, and to make them if I have something that I couldnt find within the site.

I import short mp3 snippets into my phone for ring tones. Separate ring tones for regular callers. My ring tone for my daughter is the chorus from "Rock And Roll All Nite" from KISS ALIVE!. At work one day I had my phone set on 'stun' sitting a few feet away from a gaggle of engineers working on some equipment in our office when she called. It took me about thirty minutes to peel those guys off the ceiling. A tad high strung. My generic ring tone for those folks who do not have their own is the theme from "Seinfeld". I have an old LG something or other phone and the stock ring tones suck.

I have Verizon but I got the cable so that I can connect the phone to a USB port on my pc and I import them that way.

You have me at a loss with this feature. Ring back? Based upon what you've stated, I would definitely be skipping the phone across a pond, lake, or, preferably, an ocean if I couldn't turn something like that off.

I'm not a big phone user myself. My phone is old, circa 2003, suits me fine, and is only used for emergency calls from the road. The ringtones on it are monophonic, which gives "Valkyries" and "Ode" quite a unique sound. :)

Mine sits on vibrate, and beeps once for text, more for voice calls.

The only ringtone I use is a swamp/frog noises default for the alarm clock when I'm on the road.

And it hasn't dialed you without my assistance in months.  Or Greedy either for that matter.  For awhile it was fixated on calling Greedy.  Gotta love these smart phones, huh?

I have a new Droid :)

My random call ringtone is "FurElise".

John is Shakira's "Underneath Your Clothes." I love that song~

Work is the B-52's "Rock Lobster." One of the businesses he owns is a lobster processing plant, so it makes me laugh to use that one. :)

My ex-husband is "Crazy Train." lol. We still do business together, he laughed when he heard it.

I change mine about 5 or 6 times a year.

Truly, Madly, Deeply by Savage Garden for Master. That's been his ringtone long before he was Master. It's kinda how I let him know I was in love with him back then

Love the way you lie by Eminem/Rhianna for random texts

I'm a Bitch - Meredith Brooks for Mama

You're Beautiful - James Blunt for random phone calls

and the list goes on...
