I'm a liberal to the nth degree and I still think we need the second amendment. I don't even own a gun, but I think we need to reserve the right to bear arms. This was mainly to ensure that we would always be able to defend ourselves against those in power. Though, I certainly can see the other half of it, that some people that shouldn't have guns, do, but I don't think that gun control is going to stop that. On the other hand, how do we defend ourselves against a government that has nuclear weapons, among a myriad of many other tools of destruction? Still, though, I would like to take comfort in knowing that when my government is wrong, I have a right to stand up against it.
Ok, I dont think you quite understood the arguement. This is an arguement regarding the 14th, NOT, the 2nd. I put in, that conservatives want to change the 14th, to their view point. So I simply took one of two amendments, that they would NEVER, want to have changed, by a liberal. It basically means, for them to stop and think, that if they do so on the 14th, liberals can then go to the 2nd, and modify it. Now, how dangerous do you think either action is for the nation, both now, and 50 years down the road?
In other news (and on topic), Mr. Anderson Cooper had a interview with Rep. Louie Gohmert of Texas. To his credit, Mr. Cooper remains professional, and on topic. This guy is totally wacko on the subject. No evidence, no links, no persons, nothing. Just a bunch of conspiracies; which is to say, things are 'normal' in the conservative camp this week.
