I'm between partners right now and looking o expand my experiences with ropework, mainly Shibari. I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions for methods of practice when there's no one to practice on.

You can practice ties on chairs, seeing if they are symmetrical, if the knots fall where you want them.

The only person I know of locally who was into solo bondage and specifically suspension bonbdage had a fatal accident hanging himself. I understand that it was considereded better for the family to allow a verdict of suicide stand rather then publically bring out the fact that he was involed in bondage and part of the BDSM scene.. I too like chairs with the dressmakers dummy (modified for needle practice) another preference. At least both don't complain, have limits or safe words..

Definitely not planning on tying myself up. I like the chair idea, maybe in conjunction with a pillow or something.

I have done some shibari-style harnesses solo on myself. Nothing around the neck, or even restricting movement, just creating a web of sorts. It's harder than doing it to someone else, and a dressmaker dummy sounds like a good idea.
