Yes. it makes sense.

I think the cuffs on the shirts would be a really cute idea. And it for sure would work using non-stretchy material being sewn to a t-shirt matierial shirt. I've seen em done like that and sometimes even have a collar and stuff sewn in so it looks like two shirts when it's actually one.

One of the main thnigs to watch for sewing non giving material to more stretch material, is make sure to pull the stretchy material out just a bit as you're sewing the non stretchy material on so you don't lose any of the room in the sleeve area. Natually you'll lose a bit of the give by adding on a non stretchy cotton. Hopefully this made sense. [:D]

I can remember wayyy back when I was in high school I believe. I've always marched to the beat of my own drum so to speak. I like not blending in. At any rate, back then bell bottom pants were still in style. So to fix them to my interpretation, I'd split the side seams from the hem up to about mid calf, then cut a triangle of fabric, usually some color of bandana material or whatever else seemed cool at the time and sew it into the split in the side seam. It gave the jean a whole lot more flow in the lower leg and looked really cool to me. I may have to fix up a pair just to see how they look and if they'd catch back on now. Lord knows lots of things that used to be in style have recycled back around.

Nope I can't sew a straight line, maybe not even a crooked one. So did you just add the fabric to the existing bottom part of the jeans? Shame you don't live closer, I'd pay you to do a pair of mine.
:)
what is cute...tear/cut a few holes in the jeans then wash so the holes fray. Sew a matching patch to the inside of the jeans, allowing the fabric patch to be seen through the hole. This will match the cuffs and really does look cute.

How did you deal with the machine not wanting to go over the seam of the jeans leg? I can sew around every part of the jeans sept where the manufacturers seamed it.

I want to make bell bottom jeans too, but I don't wear jeans, and I can't see going out and spending the money on jeans just to do a craft, when I don't like jeans.
