It's on my list when you go down the list of programs you can add remove, an I don't remember ever seeing it before, an I have no clue what it's associated with.

OCR stands for Optical Character Recognition. I can't comment on the specific program but that's what OCR means.

What it does mainly is if you scan a document on the scanner and run it through OCR, it can put it in a text document or into a Word document so that it can be edited. You get a picture when you scan a document and it is not easy to edit, and the file is large. You only need this for authenticity purposes sometimes. Some programs can edit the words in a picture but it is an awkward, clumsy process. In a text editor it is easy, and then you just print it if need be.

And if you were poor sighted for example, Readplease will read a text document and speak it to you in a computer voice, but I don't think it can do it with a picture yet, which is what you get when you scan something.

If you ever installed scanner software that is probably where it came from and is most likely innocuous and harmless. I wouldn'r remove it so fast. There are alot worse things out there (or in there ? )

Google is your friend for information and explanations.......just type the phrase into the search engine, and hit "enter".  You'd be surprised how much information you can find that might make it easier to understand something.

It probably came pre-installed when you bought your computer. In any case, if you don't scan paper documents and convert them to electronic text, then you can remove that program.

If you have a laptop it's a program taht comes pre-installed with your webcam on the laptop so that instead of entering a password to get onto your computer it will recognize your retina and you can access your laptop.
