I think it happens when we experience something either by something we see or hear about that cant be resolved and then as time goes by we attempt to resolve things in odd ways or become obsessed durring the resolution of things we don't understand.

I really dont know what kind of childhoods you all had but they certainly sound a bit awkward to me. It reminds me of a gay guy(again i am progay so u dont need to adress blabla) who did his very best to prove he was born gay. He did some good fieldwork and actually proved some people have more chance to become gay genetically. And he yelled HALLELUJAH I AM BORN GAY. He forgot to mention the tests only proved improved chances, not a 100% genetic make up wich is IMO fairly impossible. Life forms you for a far greater part then genetic make up. Point is you can search your past for hints like some kids like to torcher bugs or are bullies or are more follower then leader. Those are just different charactertrades wich are existant in every person, very little to do with bdsm.

I gotta say I never had any S&M based childhood activities, I was always a sexually positve child but it was never anything more than that. My being involved in this lifestyle is actually out of character for the childhood I had. I think some of us are just wired to be kinky lil fuckers. QSM

No it is not normal. That was kinda the answer I was lookin for and I guess you too. I believe a lot of people are naturally drawn into bdsm out of damaged pasts. Individual fetishes can have those same effects. I saw a pirate movie when I was young and loved those movies ever since. I read a lotta fantasy(like LOTR) when I was young and it is still my favorite genre. I percieve the catholic church as a dark dungeon since I was young and I could go on with a very long list. What I am trying to explain is that we all do have choices and its wise to really search your soul wether things are good or bad for you. Sex is the most powerful drug IMO and with addictions the problem is that many people loose a part of their original self. I always like to take a step back and look at myself if something is really what I want. Do I want it all the time or just now and then etc. Or maybe I do want it but it is too farfetched(maybe dangerous) to be part of my life.
