A friend of mine sent me a photo of Obama with the caption "Welcome Back Carter" and while I smirked, It got me to thinking. In 1979 during the Iran Hostage Crisis, Jimmy Carter gave approval to "Operation Eagle Claw" which was the attempted rescue of the 52 American Hostages which went south and wound up killing the would be rescuers. The grinding thought is this, with Obama's Apology to the Islamic world, If something like the Iran Hostage Crisis or 9/11, happened on this man's watch would He really have the nerve to step up to the plate and do something about it. Or would he like Jimmy Carter twiddle his thumbs and say "well I tried" and never do anything to bring the criminals to Justice. Obama's current engagement in Iraq and Afghanistan are more something that he's been saddled with and not something he started. The US Military's Current policy is COIN, which boils down to the Peace Corps with guns. What I guess I am really asking here, "Do you think Obama has the Brass Balls to protect America from an attack, or do we have to wait for another republican to do that?"

You mean like the way Regan brought those terrorist to justice by securing the captives release with a missile deal? Yes he did make them pay, literally many dollars.

You mean, MasterJohnSteed.... ...By going after the guy that attacked us on 9/11, by taking a 'flanking manuever' all the way to Iraq? Then accusing that nation of holding 'Weapons of Mass Destruction'? Unlike Mr. Bush, Mr. Obama has done and will do, just fine on the foreign policy front.

I should not be surprised, nor I suppose should you, at the anger and vitriol of the first eight responses to your OP. Liberalism is, after all, based in emotion; 0WS (0bama0 Worship Syndrome) is one of its more extreme manifestations. That 0bama0 is deeply ashamed of America is clear. But - his prosecution of the war in Afghanistan, his use of drones, the "shadow war", all make clear to me that he is also willing to defend the country

And yet you feel fully qualified to describe liberalism as being rooted solely in emotion......convienent for you that you can dismiss what are your political oppisites in such a disparaging way....while still laying claim to some sort of intellectual political highground. Perhaps conservatism(since you don't like neo-cons) is actually rooted in pure arrogance?
