1. i had just got a job in a bakery.
2. My lease was ending and i didn't have anywhere to go, so i was contemplating sleeping in my car.
3. My roommates was trying to stiff me for the security deposit.
4. i didn't have any money, so i was subsisting on the free bread from the bakery.
5. There was this guy i so obsessed with that i was practically stalking him. i had recently realised my submissive nature.
6. It was a hot summer in Davis, and there was no air conditioning.
7. i felt completely trapped and completely free
8. i felt ashamed of my life; full of regret for the past
9. i was hopeful
10. i was drinking a lot of tea
11. my boss was an asshole, and it made me feel really submissive at work
12. i was taking a lot of late night walks by myself
13. i am much happier today than i was a year ago
14. i had just discovered Champagne

Living in Chicago getting ready to move back to Australia, spending time with friends and family.

It was fun.

One year ago was very much the same as today with a few exceptions.

My son was angry with me and I was stressing over a disagreement we'd had.

My daughter had just discovered she was pregnant and I was concerned about that.

I only had two dogs..............and not this 60# 'puppy'.

I was doing a lot more riding.

I was still on a high from vacation.

I had two girls here, with the potential of slavery.

I had just started painting again.

one year ago:

I had just finished the Calibirthday and had met in person some of the longtime posters.

I had not yet met kat, my submissive from Sept 09 to March 10.
I did not yet have a side business.
I was still in contact with my daughter.
I did not know I had diabetes and didn't know why I was so low energy.

1. tripping tits about all the extant celebrity deaths. Death happens all the time, to everyone, but admit it, last year SUCKED.
2. realizing that I was (am) going to have to do something major about my teeth.
3. realizing that my oldest son, who is a mental case, had not only apparently taken indecent liberties with an underage girl, but was engaged to her just-as-mental mother. They have since married (I did not attend), and I have since come to terms with this. We have no contact, and I am fine with this.
4. realizing that life is still grand and full of things to share and teach, and that I am still one of the luckiest and happiest people I know.
5. realizing that I sweat more during the month of August than any other month of the year.

Here doing pretty much the exact same thing I am doing now.  Last year early on I had finally gotten my business.  So, I was building it.  This year, well it is easier to build.

The only difference now is I had foot surgery in June, it went well but has left me in much pain still.  So, after work I'm not doing as much around the house as I once did.  Once healed I will be back to doing the exact same thing.

Next year, well that is entirely different from this year.  I already know that.

1. hated my job
2. just heard bad news about a health thing
3. had to make immediate plan to take care of above health thing
4. was still seeing my on again, off again ex
5. was pretty damn upset about the above

Now, the health thing is taken care of, I still hate my job, am job hunting AGAIN, and stopped seeing the ex a month ago. So things are looking up, maybe? [&o]

More or less where I am now.

Tail end of the summer holidays, Oldest off at camp in the south of France, Middle One starting school after the summer (it is Youngest turn this year). Preparations to make for the school year, renovating the room of the first grader to be, supervising the kids in the pool, organizing fun outings, waiting for school to start again.
Having a drink on the patio when the late evening silence sets in, reading, knitting, going for a late walk with the dog.

A year ago...I was getting my graphic design biz started up, loving the fact that my roommates were never around, had just started performing poetry with serious stage fright, trying to extricate myself from my family's issues, and having really spectacular sex with B.

Now...I'm working on the business (small client base but enough to keep me debt free, woohoo!), am thrilled to have no roommates, still performing poetry (and I've had a couple paid gigs, which is exciting), have come to terms with the fact that my family life is a little fucked up but it is what it is, just adopted a stray, and having really spectacular sex with B. I'm pretty happy, actually :)

one year ago the life I thought was dead turned out to be just laying dormant. I began thinking about getting out and finding fun, energy and passion.

I was looking at new apartments from my brother's house, which is 6 hours away from where I go to school.

I was registering for courses.

I switched research topics for my thesis....

We had just moved to CA.  I was absolutely loving the new house.  Most of the time, I was spending unpacking.

I was coping with moving across the country from My daughter, My grandchildren, and all of My lifestyle friends and family.  That part was hard.

I had the chance to meet folks that are now just a few hours away for the very first time.  That made it easier.

I was learning to adjust the wine country (yay) rather than a city.
