The trouble is with Saudi Arabia, is that it has what the world wants, namely oil and as long as it has this commodity that everyone wants at the right price, places like Saudi Arabia will continue to basically do what the fuck it likes, as no country is going to piss them off unless they are prepared to handle deep unrest within their own country through severely rising costs of everything and with that unavailability of things taken for granted. The very reason why some countries invade oil bearing countries on the pretext of human rights or any other politically friendly bullshit, accessing oil via conquest is a much cheaper option politically than the aggro that will come from home when things start failing due to lack of oil.
If Saudi Arabia had no oil, what would the rest of the world do about what reports come out of there, would the world and it's leading countries invade, or just plain ignore them ? My thoughts are, where there is nothing in a monetary sense to be gained, no one will invest money and lives in attempting to change a country's judicial system.
So, we can all be appalled about what we hear, but will it change, perhaps not, not at least until the people there change their views, which could be seen as already happening by this OP, the request to medics instead of a butcher to do the job as is required by their laws.
Hands and other appendages being lopped off for crimes committed, if the law requires it and it must be done, then better medics be relied on than some blood thirsty nut case with a ragged edged sword.
