Left, right, center, war, peace, every race, creed, color and national origin I'm equally going to point laugh and tell you to grow up if you complain about angry responses to what you knew or should have known were controversial statements.

You open your mouth, you open yourself to people responding to your words. period full stop

So, you think that an old crusty talk show host that gets off being controversial and getting a rise out of someone is the same as a very young woman who makes a comment on a stage at a concert... okay, you and i have different ideas about which is asking for backlash

And believe me, I put myself in the category as someone who knowingly has put myself in the line of fire

I hold all public figures to that same standard.
Open your mouth and you open your statements up for commentary. The rest is degrees but the central concept I apply equally to those I agree with (neither of these two) and those I don't (both of these two).

You have to know your audience. The Dixie Chicks are largely playing in front of a crowd that is mesmerized by cars going around a track. Hopefully they were smart enough to get a share of the proceeds that a mullet wearing Toby Keith gained at their expense.

The difference is that the Dixie Chicks have some skills. Dr Laura and the chick from Alaska are talentless holes.
