People got upset that they were "sold a bill of goods" but hell they asked to be sold a bill of goods.

Not me. I justĀ  asked to be told the truth. Naive, I know, but I'm funny that way.

So what you're saying is that because the truth wasn't a good enough reason to invade, the American people gave Cheney and Bush no choice but to lie to them. Or have I got that wrong?

You got it right.

I'm watching coverage of troops pulling out of Iraq. What exactly was the point of that war?

This came over my twitter account and considering all the false reasons given for going to war in Iraq, the question becomes very real.

I would go with changing the way Iraqis think......i.e. forcing Western ideals upon them.

Business concerns....e.g. Haliburton and associates were a by-product.

What boggles the mind is that in some parallel universe Saddam Hussein won the war and we just re-elected him last week.[:D]

It was a pointless war aren't most wars pointless? Philosophically speaking WW2 was also pointless as it would have made no real difference because you only know how good the world could have been had you experienced it. Sure it would matter to the few for a short time but the rest of us would have been born into ignorance or not born at all.

People die and then you have to find a reason to justify dying in large numbers.

It must be a religious thing to spend your life dying for someone else to be able to live their life the way you wanted to live yours. However they wanted to die for those others to want something else than to die for a cause.
