Status: offline 		We all have them on some level. Share a few here and perhaps we can get a laugh or a nod of agreement.


One of mine:

Public washrooms (bathrooms for you American folk) that use hand dryers instead of paper towel. What the heck am i going to use now to open the door handle to leave? I have a huge phobia of public washroom doorhandles.

Status: offline 		I agree about the warm air hand dryers. The instructions should say "Rub hands briskly in the warm air, then wipe on pants".

My complaint about public restrooms is women who pee on the seat and then don't wipe it off. They'd wring their spouse's neck if he did that. Not everyone can squat over the toilet. Not everyone is convinced that disease lurks on toilet seats. A little courtesy, please!

If there was a simple means for me to deal with a personal quirk, I wouldn't much worry about how it looked.

My experiece in this matter might be a tad colored by the fact that there were several people at my last job with what I assume was a similar quirk to yours. I was contiually amazed and dismayed with the pile of paper towels on the floor near the door. I can only guess they were there after people used them to open the door then dropped because they were too lazy to dispose of them after use.

Besides, every gentleman should have a handkercheif with him at all times. The repulsive wardrobe and surly disposition is completely optional :)

Status: offline 		I have a great many quirks (at least according to my Dom, I always thought they were perfectly normal), here are a few:

1) Just like sweetpleaser I refuse to allow my food to touch and I eat it clockwise starting at the top of the plate

2) I never drink out of the same glass twice, if I want more to drink I get a clean glass (this gets interesting when we eat out and they try to refill my glass)

3) I always carry a hoodie with me wherever I go, it could be 90 degrees in August, but I still carry my hoodie around

4) When I am walking I always have to be in step with someone, usually whoever I'm walking next to (blame this one on the 7 years of marching band)

5) I suck my pinkies when I'm bored, I think it helps me concentrate, but it tends to drive people nuts

6) I always drive with all the wondows down and the heat on full blast to keep my feet warm

7) I brush my teeth after I eat anything, I carry a little travel toothbrush in my purse and I also have one in my car

8) Also on the subject of toothbrushes, I replace my toothbrush about every 2 weeks or so, I mean, goodness knows what kinds of germs are on that thing

9)I have never finished a tube of toothpaste, ever. I always get about halfway done and then I open a new one. I don't throw the old one away though, it just kind of hangs around until my Dom uses it all.

10) This one is my Dom's favorite, it cracks him up. I don't sleep the right way. I sleep with my feet at the head of the bed and my head at the foot of the bed. I could start out sleeping the right way, but I always end up that other way. I don't really understand.

Ok, that's quite enough for now, I could go on forever, but I think you all may be a little sick of hearing from me

This is something I have always noticed about those with the extreme phobias revolving around bathroom door handles. If they are concerned enough - yes they WILL open the door with a towel as they are leaving (it cracks me up when those with the phobia don't - and I'm too much of a brat to not point it out lol) - but almost NONE of them think about doing that when they OPEN the door, or open the stall and lock it.

They have JUST touched everyone else's hands and then will proceed to touch their private parts without batting an eye - only to be very careful about opening the stall when they leave, washing their hands and then being careful about opening the door.

I just always find that sorta funny. Same thing if they are in a store and those same folks then happily touch the shopping carts without blinking an eye.

Me? I figure getting sick helps work out my immune system - no flu shots for me, but I do tend to recognize public bathrooms arent the cleanest spaces.

I heard somewhere that most kitchen counters and especially sponges have more germs than public restrooms.

Status: offline 		I refuse to drink after anyone. I will not share a glass- straw- bottle anything. If you take a drink it is yours. AND- since I know everyone around me knows how I feel about it and laugh at me over it, I will not drink from a glass after I have left the room, who knows who may have grabbed a drink in my absence... just waiting to point it out to me as soon as I drink again. ( I do have a teenage daughter that dreams up ways to annoy me and make me miserable- I think she is mentally connected to my mother who sends her messages to make me pay!)


I also will not eat from anothers utensils, share a toothbrush or makeup for that matter.

I have certain glasses in the house I drink from and will use no others.

When I travel I have a portable toilet seat. it folds and is made of hard plastic. I spray it with lysol front and back before and after each use and keep it in a bag. I also carry hand sanitizer with me everywhere, as well as hand lotion. I do not use public bathrooms if I am within an hour of my home. I do not even use my sisters bathroom. And my bathroom at home belongs to ME.

Status: offline 		I had to laugh and apologize for laughing at, i think the name was siamsa, post....because i sleep on my bed sideways instead of straight like from headboard to bottom. When i wake up i am either at the edge of the bed or on the floor LOL .

lol ShadeDiva... You should see me lift or put down a toilet seat with my foot. I even tear off the first two squares of TP and discard it, because it could have touched a dirty hand. Yes i've hopped around on one foot in many a stall. I'm sure i look like an idiot.

Status: offline 		It's funny how things seem normal to you until everyone points out how wierd it is. So here's a few:
1) I bite, kick, claw, and hit in my sleep. In the morning I have no memory of it, but I often wake up with bite marks on my arms and scratches. My poor husband always tries desperately to get away from me once I fall asleep!
2) I write backwards. (Hold it up to a mirror and it's normal) I can write forward, but not as quickly and more sloppily, so I write all my class notes, etc. backwards.
3) Like Siamsa, I too was in a marching band for years, and I too automatically fall into step with whoever I'm walking with. If someone is persistently out of step it bugs the hell out of me. Shows what a little conditioning can do to you. It also drives me nuts when music or singing is out of tune.

Status: offline 		For me, it's something stupid, and a little dangerous...whenever i drive somewhere, i make a game out of how many out of state license plates i see...you'd think that i'd have outgrown that ages ago, but i still find it fun to check out.

That and not spending the state quarters i come across...i must have about $500 in quarters here in my apartment.
