perhaps if you took the time to talk to someone and not take all that is said here as exactly what a person is then you would find out about them.

Here is the problem with that statement....

There is an abundance of people on the interwebs. Those who appeal to us are the ones that we take the time to get to know. Since we can't possibly get to know everyone, we have to be selective on who seems like worth the time to invest in the "getting to know you" thing.

It is kinda like applying for a job. The employer goes through a stack of resumes and starts to hone in on who they want to interview. If your resume is disorganized, has lots of errors, appears padded, or lacks experience that the employer is looking for, they stick it in the trash.

Neat chart.  I'll second DC having bad drivers.  It might have something to do with the fact that they seem to have spent more on the mayor's crack habit than buying some damn STREET SIGNS.

Those results are based only upon a 20 question written test. All that shows is how "book smart" drivers are by state.

The proof, though, comes in actual practice and I agree with Hillwilliam... Miami drivers are just plain... I have no words to describe it. At least northeastern drivers, whether they know about rights-of-way or not, generally try to follow road signs, traffic lights, and road markings. It may not appear that they do, but compared to Miami drivers, they are saints at it.

Why would I do that? In order for me to want to talk to someone they have to already display some kind of desirable trait. If I spent the time it would take to get to know every humourless random who turned up on the internet I would have no time for the people I consider worthwhile.

I just don't care enough to check if the way you portray yourself on the forums is the 'real you'. If you can't display your fantastic sense of humour accurately that's your problem.

Myles -> RE: FAKES!!!!!1! (9/2/2010 11:34:17 PM)

it sure is a jungle of mish mashof the likes of.. tit for tat, Im all that, shes a brat, someone ran over my cat, damn then I got as flat. Its hard enough to define yourself in a box smaller than most shopping lists without having to defend yourself half the time. (as many newcomers seem to have to do here, myself included). In order to make yourself stand out can be hard for someone who perhaps communicates better in person than with the written word to faceless (for the most part) other words on here. After few polite Emails perhaps you will find DomJuan or supersubbie, provided both parties are cordial and things click you'll know soon enough, I know I do better after a few Emails. Sometimes all you have to do is step off the curb to start todays journey

juliaoceania -> RE: FAKES!!!!!1! (9/2/2010 11:48:56 PM)

Here is how it works, women get lots of mail on a site like this. We get a lot of "hello", nothing else at all. The men who approach us like this usually have nothing on their profile.. they do not even list their interests... so, you write back and say "Hi"

What ensues is a bunch of one line emails... I get bored very quickly when I have to make all the effort at a conversation. I like chatty men. I like men that know what they want and how to present that information to me. I like men that tell me why they find me appealing. If a man can't even point out that we both enjoy underwater basket weaving, then he probably isn't suited for me. I list LOTS of stuff I like when my profile is available. It isn't hard to come up with some sort of icebreaker. If by the age of 40 a man hasn't figured out how to approach a woman, he is probably going to be socially immature in comparison to me, and I am primarily looking for a companion, so it is important that a man at least TRY to be companionable.

You had to defend yourself because you started with a really rubbish and negative first thread and then took massive offence at the light sarcasm you received in return. Plenty of newcomers manage to get accepted just fine without having to defend OR define themselves. I don't much care who people are as long as they have something interesting to say.

So if you communicate so much better in person, don't waste your time on a message board. I've seen you complain about this several times. Stop whining and be an adult: either learn to communicate properly using text or deal with the fact that people don't like the way you come across.

Which would be fine if I cared whether or not you were DomJuan or suppersubbie. I don't. You're just some guy on a message board, protesting that you have a sense of humour in the face of all the opposing evidence...

Today's journey doesn't involve you, I'm afraid.

Yeah, well the snowbirds in Arizona make 'em all look tame!  Half the time, you can't even see them in the car cuz they are driving a barge, and they are so short you wonder how the heck their feet even reach the pedals!!!!!  But I will admit, the drivers here in the Jacksonville, FL area are totally oblivious of their surroundings.....I've lost count of the number of times I've almost been hit.....damn cell phones!
