Do not put your elbows on the table.
Don't start to eat until all the guests have been served.
If you drop a piece of silverware do not pick it up. Apologize and ask for a fresh piece.
After dinner do not seem in a hurry to depart. It's considered rude.

Status: offline 		Thank you. I have been practising sitting up strait at the table, and not putting my elbows on the table, and I am proud to say I usually go for about the entire meal before I forget and slouch an put elbows on the table. Pretty good for a first time effort.

Status: offline 		I sometimes take some nice after dinner mints or buy some chocolates from one of the specialty shops (that is if you know how many people will be attending)

Remember to keep your elbows tucked into your body when eating, not spread out like chook wings

Someone had mentioned the bit about breaking the bread into small pieces and buttering each bit individually.  Along with this cut off an amount of butter that you think you will need for your bread and place it on your bread plate to use as you eat your bread rather than going back to the butter dish every two minutes.

Always thank the hostess for the meal (I was brought up to always say it was a lovely meal).

if getting up during the meal to go to the bathroom etc quietly push your chair out and say "please may I be excused"or "excuse me for a moment". 

Instead of asking for the toilet ask for directions to the ladies room or bathroom

If you don't like something you are eating don't make a big scene, simply leave it on one side of your plate (whatever you do, don't do this)

Often there is someone who is a bit of a wallflower. If you see that person, try to draw them out. Always ask more about others than talking about yourself. You seem to genuinely care about others, so just put that side of yourself in the forefront, and you will be the hostess's favorite guest.

Status: offline 		calamitysandra, I'm going to wear a very pretty black beaded skirt with tinker bell type edges, and a blouse, some stockings and some flats. I am thinking I will get my hair professionally done, if it doesn't cost to much and if my  hair is still long enough for a french braid, and maybe a strand of pearls, if my mom has some that fit me.
