I have been in the BDSM lifestyle off and on for 10 years or so.... and I always like to see people of the BDSM lifestyle cross over in obvious ways into the Vanilla world in accepting ways. I would like to hear about things others have seen in the Vanill world as well. OK... now that you are scratching your head saying, "What in the world is he getting at??", let me explain a bit.

Now some of the things I might mention could just be Goth expression, but some are more D/s, M/s and BDSM:

1) Go to a Renessance Festival... you are going to come across at least a handful of couples who take on the Lord and slave routine, and use it to take their lifestyle choice, and display it for the world... but nobody might know what is going on because they are doing it in a Vanill place but in an appropriate way.

2) Huge motorcycle rallies... you will come across more than one Dom or Domme leading their sub around on a colalr and lead through the crowd. Many times, the female sub will be made to wear a very revealing outfit like a thong and chaps. HAve seen this in Laconia, NH, Daytona Beach, FL, and Gettysburg, PA. I even went so far as to ask if I could take a picture of the one girl in NH so the wife could see this woman... the woman said, "Certainly You may sir. my Master has told me to pose nicely for all who wish to do so".... as she did pose for a couple of pictures... she was even wearing a cute racoon tail off the back strap of her chaps.

3) Fells Point Festival in Baltimore... go there each year and come across a lesbian couple walking. I think they must live in Fells Point since I see them there each year, or they too love that festival. These are two very beautiful ladies, and the first is always dressed casually, and the second is always in very high leather boots. The plain dress woman is always leading the other by a belt around her waist... one with boots has very long black hair with the under layer dyed a beautiful fuscia color... saw her flip her hair once... was cute.

Anyone else have any similar times of seeing BDSM. D/s, M/s type lifestyle brought out into the vanilla world in appropriate ways.... or even inappropriate ones??

Anyway, to me it depends on two things: personal comfort level and context.

Some people could be in a crowd of kinksters and still not want to wear leather.

Some people wear leather everywhere they go.

From your kin in Minnesota,

You can get away with cowgirl stuff, that's often leather..........LOL, although to look at you you would not sport the holstien colors (gateway for you city dwellers) real well.

And they say this dominance is easy.
Hard to accessorize out in the midwest.

Halloween is a great excuse to wear whatever you want. I worked in a costume shop through several seasons and at least three times a year some couple would come in to buy an M&M costume for him yet she already had the Domina outfit (S&M's for anyone who's had a long week).

We'd also get couples engaging in a bit of public play on our busy days, Daddy's buying their 'little girl' princess costumes or guys trying to find a french maid outfit in their size while the wife critiqued.

We went to a Renaissance Festival on Easter and it was great fun to wear my collar and slavebell anklet and have people compliment me on them. We even saw a shop that was called the Leather Rose that has lots of BDSM related stuff in it along with normal leather goods.

I've never been all that impressed with leather wear as a way of showing one's involvement in the lifestyle. When I was actively seeking I tended to prefer to look among those men who didn't feel the need to "dress" for the evening. To me that shows self confidence without needing to advertise it.

In vanilla settings obvious signs of involvement in the lifestyle takes all the fun out of trying to figure out who is and who isn't by their personality and body language.

sometimes when we go vanilla places, my dom makes me wear my collar with the lock showing instead of hidden under my hair. Only a goth or leather person or someone in the lifestyle knows what theyre looking at.

i am so grateful he does not make me wear one of those $5.00 dog choke chains. what a terrible thing to to put on a piece of property so valuable...
