Soros doesn't act from self-interest?? Really?? ROFL

I don't see it myself; maybe you could stop ROFL-ing long enough to show me how Soros is acting out of self-interest? Like he really has some kind of nefarious Jewish plot to take over the world, with himself as Lord High Dictator?

Yeah, Really?
After he invested billion$ in Russia 15-20 years ago he was being like a tout at the track telling everyone who would listen to "Invest in Russia!"
We all know how that one went!

Hillwilliam -> RE: The billionaire brothers who are waging a war against Obama. (8/27/2010 1:07:11 PM)

Rich people putting their money where their mouth is instead of just bitching and frequently not even voting.

what's the problem?  It happens on both sides.

THELADY -> RE: The billionaire brothers who are waging a war against Obama. (8/27/2010 1:51:24 PM)

Indeed it happens on both sides:  George Soros

In an interview with The Washington Post on November 11, 2003, Soros said that removing President George W. Bush from office was the "central focus of my life" and "a matter of life and death." He said he would sacrifice his entire fortune to defeat President Bush, "if someone guaranteed it."[33] Soros gave $3 million to the Center for American Progress, $5 million to MoveOn.org, and $10 million to America Coming Together. These groups worked to support Democrats in the 2004 election. On September 28, 2004 he dedicated more money to the campaign and kicked off his own multi-state tour with a speech: Why We Must Not Re-elect President Bush[34] delivered at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. The online transcript to this speech received many hits after Dick Cheney accidentally referred to FactCheck.org as "factcheck.com" in the Vice Presidential debate, causing the owner of that domain to redirect all traffic to Soros's site.[35] Soros was not a large donor to US political causes until the 2004 presidential election, but according to the Center for Responsive Politics, during the 2003-2004 election cycle, Soros donated $23,581,000 to various 527 groups dedicated to defeating President Bush. A 527 group is a type of American tax-exempt organization named after a section of the United States tax code, 26 U.S.C. § 527. Despite Soros' efforts, Bush was reelected to a second term as president. After Bush's re-election, Soros and other donors backed a new political fundraising group called Democracy Alliance which supported the goals of the U.S. Democratic Party.[/link]

of course its OK if its a liberal, they wear the white hats. the fact that soros brought down the British bank and interfeared with other economies (and maybe the U.S. economy?) does not mean he is evil, he intentions are good!

Lordandmaster -> RE: The billionaire brothers who are waging a war against Obama. (8/27/2010 3:51:43 PM)

Yeah, guys, I understand that you don't like Soros (or that he took advantage of central banks that weren't minding their currency)--what you haven't shown me is how his philanthropy furthers his financial interests.  How was it in his interest to try to get Bush voted out of office?  He was doing it because he believed in it; in fact, he even said he'd trade in his fortune for it.  The Koch family believes in whatever lines their pockets.

THELADY -> RE: The billionaire brothers who are waging a war against Obama. (8/27/2010 3:57:59 PM)

right and Soros didn't make millions breaking the bank .......

I am sure he had nothing to do with any problems we now face, after all he said he waqs willing to trade his fortune .... and I am sure he would never lie, he wears a white hat!

What happened to restrictions on foreign contributions to political campaigns. Oh, yeah, that doesnt apply to liberal foreigners.

What happened is both Soros and Murdoch are naturalized US citizens, THAT is what happend.  Too bad people are either A) too stupid to understand this, or B)too lazy to read about it.

At least they are citizens and more importantly CLAIM to be citizens and are, hopefully, proud of that fact. More than I can say for some people that were born here. (I lived in miami for 18 years and I'm talking first hand knowledge)

Lordandmaster -> RE: The billionaire brothers who are waging a war against Obama. (8/27/2010 6:55:40 PM)

It's weird to see the free-market apostles suddenly cry foul when a liberal Jew plays the free markets a little too well for their comfort.

Anyway, yeah, go on and pillory Soros. He certainly doesn't need me to defend him.

THELADY -> RE: The billionaire brothers who are waging a war against Obama. (8/27/2010 8:19:49 PM)

No, its not that he was out to play them too well, he was out to destroy them. But for red tape he would have been convicted in France for dirty dealing.  It will not likely be known for a few years but I would not be surprised to find out he did the same here.
setting out to destroy an economy is completely different from playing the game well.

what did he make his money on? the stock market.....hes an evil  wall street trader.. don't the left hate wall street? .. oh wait,  hes a liberal, there for its ok!

DomKen -> RE: The billionaire brothers who are waging a war against Obama. (8/31/2010 4:56:25 PM)

So I guess the Koch brothers decided HCR wasn't so bad after all.

So in other words, you are sure he had something to do with the problems we now face.

You just don't know what that something is or which problems he had to do with.

Or you do know but if you told us you would have to kill us.

Just out of curiosity, do you see anything contradictory in these two statements from your link?

No. Maybe try reading it again with your auto-snark turned off? I thought the leap was quite well supported.

I'm guessing you'll follow in LAM's tracks on the, "no, really, Soros is different; he believes," path, and that's way too pointless a conversation.

It wasn't snark.

I was pointing out to you that the author acknowledged working for a program funded by the Kochs, then went on to praise the program and, by extension, the Kochs.

Then in the very next sentence he starts attacking the author of the other article as biased.

And you don't see what the problem is?

Hippiekinkster -> RE: The billionaire brothers who are waging a war against Obama. (9/1/2010 1:47:12 AM)

I find it hilarious that the wingnuts are dissing George Soros, a self-made man who had to hide his identity from the Nazis in WWII Hungary,

"Soros was thirteen years old in March 1944 when Nazi Germany took military control over Hungary.[15] Soros worked for the Jewish Council,[8] which had been established during the Nazi occupation of Hungary to forcibly carry out Nazi and Hungarian government anti-Jewish measures. Soros later described this time to writer Michael Lewis:

The Jewish Council asked the little kids to hand out the deportation notices. I was told to go to the Jewish Council. And there I was given these small slips of paper...It said report to the rabbi seminary at 9 a.m....And I was given this list of names. I took this piece of paper to my father. He instantly recognized it. This was a list of Hungarian Jewish lawyers. He said, "You deliver the slips of paper and tell the people that if they report they will be deported.[16]

To avoid his son's being apprehended by the Nazis, Soros's father paid a Ministry of Agriculture employee to have Soros spend the summer of 1944 living with him and posing as the godson. Young Soros had to hide his Jewishness even as the official was overseeing the confiscation of Jewish property.[17]

In the following year, Soros survived the battle of Budapest in which Soviet and German forces fought house-to-house through the city. Soros first traded currencies and jewelry during the Hungarian hyperinflation of 1945–1946.

Soros emigrated to England in 1947 and graduated from the London School of Economics in 1952. While a student of the philosopher Karl Popper, Soros worked as a railway porter and as a waiter. A university tutor requested aid for Soros, and he received 40 pounds from a Quaker charity.[18] He eventually secured an entry-level position with London merchant bank Singer & Friedlander." (Wiki)

whilst doing the anal Remora bit with the Kochsucker kids, who were born with platinum spoons in their mouths, and never had to go hungary a day in their John Birch rightard pampered lives.

More proof that rightwingnuts, deep down inside, long to suck the asses of the heriditary right in hopes that something will trickle down on them.

... how can you be so sure this one has "very little journalistic integrity"?

The Washington Examiner is nothing more than a conservative forum.

I had to laugh at the article complaining of The New Yorker's bias, the pot and kettle thing.

Washington Examiner - SourceWatch

Political slant

The Examiner's editorial page is heavily conservative; it is headed by Mark Tapscott, with American Spectator senior editor Quin Hillyer serving as its associate editor.

The paper's national political coverage, which also appears in Examiner papers in Baltimore and San Francisco, was previously headed by Bill Sammon, a former Washington Times reporter who has written several books praising George W. Bush. (Sammon is now the deputy managing editor for Fox News Channel's Washington bureau.)

Chris Stirewalt, who has been described as "a true conservative voice", is the Examiner's political editor.

Mary Katherine Ham, former managing editor of the conservative Townhall.com, briefly served as the Examiner's online editor for a few months in 2008 before joining the Weekly Standard.

Matthew Sheffield, executive editor of the Media Research Center blog NewsBusters, is in charge of the Examiner's website.

Byron York, formerly of National Review, joined the paper in February 2009.

Hippiekinkster -> RE: The billionaire brothers who are waging a war against Obama. (9/6/2010 4:18:56 AM)

"Oil billionaire David Koch is spending $250,000 on attack ads against me this week. But I'm not the only one. In fact, he is deploying his polluting billions toward this modest goal:

Choosing our next government.

In more than 50 Congressional races across the country, in the next two months, Koch will be spending $45 million. To give you an idea of how much money that is, the total amount of all PAC contributions to all candidates so far is roughly $200 million.

We have to fight back! Please help us fight back, with your contribution.

And much of the money that Koch is using in this attempted leveraged buyout of our Government comes from . . . you and me.

For many years, Koch had a contract to extract oil from federal and Indian lands. In return, Koch was supposed to pay a royalty. A jury found that Koch underpaid the Government by $210 million.

Media Matters says that Koch has received $100 million in government contracts in the last ten years alone.

And Koch has paid for his assault on progressive government during the past decade largely with tax-deductible, tax-free foundation money:

•$120 million from the "David H. Koch Charitable Foundation,"
•$48 million from the "Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation," and
•$28 million from the "Claude R. Lambe Charitable Foundation," Charles Koch controls.

So there you have it. It's the taxpayers who have inadvertently underwritten the Koch assault on social services, a clean environment and good government.

Stop the Koch coup! Please help support our counterattack.

From time to time, we will keep you posted about the Koch scheme to dictate who wins and who loses elections in America. In the meantime, thank you for your support for clean government. And special thanks to the 1000+ supporters who answered the call, and made a contribution to help us fight back.

Truth,

Alan Grayson"
