The add claims it can broil, steam, bbqs, grills, roasts, bakes, and even fries, and it needs no oil to fry foods. It's a counter top modle, and I like that since it does so many things, an it's portable.

Do these things really do all they claim to do as well as they claim to, or is kind of biting more off than it can chew?

I've heard from some people that the way it makes your food taste is a waste for the money. But hey. Youre the one blowing all the cash on it, so you be the judge of that.

Kyttyn, what do you mean by the "way it makes your food taste"

And That's why I am asking people's experiences, and reviewing it, because yes I am the one "blowing all the money on it"

Oh, and have you gone to Amazon for their reviews? It looks pretty good to me especially since I've had my oven out of my kitchen for over 4 years!

French fries and other foods get much of their taste from the oil they are fried in. Expecting to get the taste you are used to without using oil is not going to happen.

I remember the Donut maker years ago. It was an easy way to make donuts with no oil. The reason you don't see them being sold any longer is that the donuts it made didn't taste like a donut. It was more like heavy cake with no icing.

If I were thinking of buying something like this Nuwave oven, I'd google "Nuwave oven reviews" and see what I could find before buying an item that might be a big disappointment.

peppermint I wouldn't care to fry stuff, since I am not a fried food fan, but I would love to broil, steam, bbq, grill and bake.

Ok, well, Amazon has 10 reviews all basically saying the item is crap, or the company is shady. :(

Essentially, I was told (as I havent purchased one) by people that I know that own one that the food tastes like crap. Hence it being a waste of the ass load of money it costs.

Steaming is easy to do. A pot, water in the bottom, a metal collander, and a lid is all you need. You probably already have the pot and lid. You just need to get the metal collander if you don't have one. I think it would be cheaper to get a toaster oven for baking and broiling.

I did a bit of research, and the Fagor Halogen Tabletop Convection Oven has much better reviews than the (apparently) piece of crap NuWave for around the same price. Another brand, Deni convection ovens, are reviewed as very durable and the reviews are positive overall.

I read reviews on several sites and suspect that a lot of the positive reviews for the NuWave are planted, by  the way. The "It did everything including taking my dog for a walk, and anyone who says otherwise is an idiot" style is pretty obvious.

Ugh.

If i were you, I would buy a crock pot (less than 30.00) and a toaster oven (25.00 at the most).

Two more counter appliances that I have and love......

A nice big steamer roaster.......I have even cooked a turkey in mine.

http://www.rivalproducts.com/product.aspx?pid=1006

An electric skillet........I have done everything, from deep frying to baking, in one.

http://www.amazon.com/Presto-06852-16-Inch-Electric-Skillet/dp/B0007XRTDG

The above is NOT the electric skillet I have. Mine is used and looks about 50 years old.

No I haven't.  For the most part I'm not much of an infomercial type of person.

Anyway, a few of you know.  Most do not I have foot surgery here in June.  Delicate as the doctor says.  I've been on my foot working since day one.  Usually by the end of the day my foot is pretty sore.

Anyway, so one day while Doug was out mowing I was sitting downstairs with my foot up watching television.  I purchased my first infomercial item of my life.

It is not an oven.  It is called the redi set go.  You can find it on Amazon.  The commercial was trying to sell you two for 40 dollars.  When I went to the website, sure it was two for 40 but it didn't tell you they wanted another 45 for shipping and handling.

Anyway as I said I went on amazon and did a search.  I got one for the 40 dollar price tag.  What sold me on it is it has a recipe book included.  Very easy recipes.  We have used that little appliance more than we have used our stove in the last couple of month's.

The only benefit with buying off of their website is recipe cards.  They have a recipe card of the month club.  4.95 a month and after reading the reviews on amazon you cannot opt out.  With buying through amazon it doesn't matter there is no club.

We have a crock pot:)

And a rice cooker, and apparently I hear you can cook more than just rice in a rice cooker, you can even, according to one woman, make spaghetti in a rice cooker.

We had a toaster oven, my dad hated it, and gave it to us, and then since Daddy never used it, we left it at his trailer for the next inhabitant to use, or throw away as they wished, but perhaps we should re think a toaster oven.

LAT I wanted an electric s/killet , but all the reviews I read and I chose different brans each time had horrible things to say about how un even they cooked an what not, but I finally bit the bullet and bought one when KOHL'S was having a sale, and on top of that sale, if you used your credit card you got 15, 20 , or 30 percent off, and we have not used it yet, but I am looking at all kinds of meal recipes online, and will try it very soon I am thinking.

This is just an old infrared warmer with a fan in a new package. Waste of money and countertop space.
