It is inadvisable to put a pan of eggs on to boil and then forget them. I am completely amazed at the force at which they blow!

Not to mention the smell.
Good to see you survived this ordeal unscathed!

LOL....when I realized what that rapid fire machine gun noise was coming from the kitchen and I ran in to see the devastation I actually thought to myself that I MUST be channeling Holly today or something! Thank gawd the stove made it through the ordeal.

I can just imagine the mess and the stink! Yikes, glad I don't have to clean it up. Thank you for the reminder and let's hope we can all learn from your experience.

Ugh.  Don't remind me.

Five or six years ago my housemate called me at my shop.  She frantically explained that she had started a pot of eggs boiling and because she was already running late, forgot about them as she ran out to meet someone.  She was about half an hour farther from the house than I was so I shut down the shop and raced home, all the while looking up in the sky for the smoke from my house burning down.

When I got to the house, it was not engulfed in flames but as soon as I opened the door, I was hit in the face with the smell of burning metal, plastic and sulfur.  When the water boiled off, all the eggs exploded and they were *everywhere*.  The pot was glowing red and had deformed and melted in upon itself and the plastic handle was all but melted away.

Last year she nearly did it again but I was home and found them before they exploded.  She is no longer allowed to boil eggs while unattended.

OMG, you are lucky you didn't end up with a fire! I'm glad my mess was only a bunch of eggs on the ceiling (and all over the walls, stove, etc.). I would have freaked out if I had actually melted the pot. Thank God for Calphalon...pretty tough stuff!

Actually, it was the birds. They started which ended up triggering the dogs. Apparently I have one dog who has learned the fine art of "singing" WITH the parrots (either that or he was wailing pitifully...it was kind of hard to tell). My normally boring house has certainly been lively today though!

Well the birds call the dogs, don't they? I've never lived with 'toos, but I know they have a big sense of humor.

LH, I was really worried about the dogs when I got the parrots. I mean I have labs and they do hunt birds afterall. Well, the birds call the dogs over and feed them peanuts! I think they are honestly just trying to get them in close enough to bite their noses. They do have a good sense of humor but I swear they are sadists!

The BEAK is the great equalizer. Jed has lived happily with catz, they love him, and he loves them. I am not sure if he has ever seen a dog, he hasn't in the 11 yrs he's been with me. Cockatoos have that notch on the lower beak that makes their bites extra bad. I suspect that even a labrador can figure that out!

Yes, they do have a wicked bite...and Sir can attest to that! I haven't been nailed yet....knock on wood...(but I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the inevitable happens). Both of the Too's seem to be a bit more nervous around men though and much more loving around women.
