on my part, so please understand this is why I am asking this here. Since coming to the boards, and especially since I posted my view on the politic and religion forum, where GreedyTop got that disgusting letter, now I myself got one, calling me an ugly white girl, my skin is pasty all the bullshit. I care less about that, but I have also been dealing with someone who is completely insane. So now my question which may be stupid to some is, what is the benefit of hiding your profile? I am only really here for my friends and my personal venues. So, is their an advantage to hiding it, and just stop here and will my friends who know me, know that I am still here? So it may be Random Stupidity, but I would love an answer. I never thought hiding a profile was necessary, but the white girl bullshit, and some of the other things I am presently going through makes me wonder what the benefits may be. Thanks to all, who have the answers, I sure as hell do not, and I do know some of you have been here super long and have the answers, so here I am, coming to you for help. Sorry you're having probs. Hide your profile but message friends to say you're still about and can get messages, or just report/block/delete the nasty stuff. I'd opt for the latter as i dont like letting other people know they got under my skin.

I am gonna agree with Frazzle. Blocking and hiding them is a much more fun way to let them know that they stink on ice, rather than hiding yourself and letting them think they got to you.

look to the lower left of this post, the PM still sends mail to hidden profiles, your avatar is that of a white girl, so you are gonna get the same mail. block the poster, report the mail. Hey, I been here a long time. Ron

Thank you Ive done all that, and this one person keeps making new profiles. So if I block him he comes up with a new one. So I thought if I just hide myself - But the only problem is, I am here, looking for my one friend who has been missing, and I want to be available in case she comes back.

If you must hide your profile, could you maybe leave a message for your friend that you are looking for her, and to contact you when she becomes available?

You can check you cmails, in your personal email inbox. means he wont see theyve been read, you dont need to block, it will just show as unread on CM. thy might give up that way if youre not showing as having read them.

Seriously, why let it get to you at all? I don't think I've ever blocked anyone and I've been here a long time...and I've gotten some seriously crappy, ugly, creepy mail. Unless someone is standing in my yard (and they'd have to be seriously stupid to do that) I don't consider them any kind of threat and I just don't give them a moment's thought. Pffffftttttt.

I have a friend who's been missing, it's more then just random bullshit. Some of the posters here know my reasons, I didn't expect judgement, I asked for help. And for the record, all the bullshit messages I get too, I 've never blocked a soul, not even the stalker who knows every single detail about me and my life, so yes, it is bullshit, but this time, It's not, or I wouldn't be here asking about what to do.

I wasn't judging you and I wasn't making any reference to your missing friend. What I was doing was suggesting that you just let it roll off of you and not pay any attention to it. When people think they are getting to you they continue...if they think they are having no effect they quickly move on to someone they can get a reaction from. Picking on someone who doesn't react one way or another is just no fun.

Thanks and after talking to Kytten, for now its hidden, she gave me the right answers, for now it will be that way I think that works best for me and the situation I am in. I wrote to my friend, and as long as she will know I'm still here its all good. Thanks for all the great advice ~ I figured out how to do it [:D] After awhile I'll open it, maybe when I feel better about the maniac. As far as the "White Girl" posting, screw him, he's def on here, I've never gotten anything like that in my life, so I care less if he's reading this or wants to find me. The random racial messages given are sickening, and yes I turned it directly over to collarme, so If he's reading it, hopefully he will be dealt with appropriately. Thanks All. ~
