There is a time and place to donate funds to another guy's election lost and debt. Not directly in front of others, that once support the canidate. Doing what he did, most likely will drive potential supporters away with his action(s). Its not generally a good idea to show up at some guy's birthday, who you just thrashed in the primary, to 'gloat' about winning, said primary.

So it is true that there is no such thing as bad publicity! Campaign contributions do not need to be made in so public a forum, and one does not have to accept contributions from someone whose political views, at least in many cases, are diametrically opposed to one's own. I swear, politics get stranger every second in this country, and it is because of the money involved.

couple things though, unless anyone has got something else I don't know about.... Buck says he was invited, and I think birthday boy took the money.... So.......

True. However, that is what I see as a blatant play for publicity. It sounds like they were in a back room somewhere, rubbing their hands together and salivating in anticipation of the attention they would receive for this enlightening display of bipartisan "goodwill." If I were one of Romanoff's supporters, I would not be happy about his acceptance of money from a man who has such an extremist stance on abortion so it's always possible it could backfire, as well.

Oh, agreed, but no politician will do that for altruistic purposes. If that be the case, the boy wouldn't have taken the money due to altruism.

But when was the last time a politician refused money? Or did anything for purely altruistic purposes? lol Boy, am I cynical about politics today...but having Beck and Palin with their tea baggers in tow in town today tends to make one a bit cynical, I suppose.
