Any opinions on what type of lube is best when locked up?

That would likely depend on what kind of device you're using. Some lubes/materials don't play well together.

A silicone based lube would work well with that. I'd stay away from petroleum based lubes.

use a silicone based lube like ID Mellinum. Water based will dry up, and although petroleum will not react with the polycarbonate, it will be difficult to clean up.
