I don't think I've ever seen this disclaimer. Word on the grapevine is that this site gets hundreds, possibly thousands, of new users on a weekly basis. I can't imagine why the site owner(s) would need to create fake ads.

A few things come to mind.  The first being that some people do use photos of themselves that include other people.  In most cases, that additional individual is not a member of this site, nor have they consented to their photograph being posted here.  Kind of funny when you think about it, since we're supposed to be about consent and all of that jazz.

This is over and above those who choose to post a picture of another person and pass it off as themselves.  While it is in TOS that this is not permitted, I'm willing to bet that some people do use this practice anyway.  I don't for a moment believe that every profile here with a female photograph is a true representation.

Also, we now have the ability to post pictures within threads.  There have been occasions in the past that the photograph is not of the person who posted it.

The advertisers on this site (kink.com, for example) may not necessarily be members of this site.  However, in the ads, pictures are posted as a method of advertising.

They're ads.

The ads that appear for some of the dating sites use models.  There are 2 reasons for this.
    1)  They really just can't go throwing pictures of members into ads and plastering them around.
    2)  They pick models who they hope will entice one to sign up and spend money.

Hence the disclaimer that these might not be actual members.  In truth they are not.
The other disclaimer about data may be for illustrative purposes.  They pull where you are connecting from and display your city as where these "members" are located.

Yea I don't believe them for a second, usually those are on the ads though. I have yet to run across a CM profile with that disclaimer, I see plenty of borrowed pics though and I get a bit report happy.

Not out of anger but out of respect for the rules is why I report those photos.

The OP is talking about the advertisements on the sides and outside areas of the page I believe, not actual Collarme profiles. [;)]

You're right - I went back and checked. I apologize.

It's apparently an ad for alt.com, but they don't have any kind of disclaimer that it's an ad for alt.com.

That makes even less sense. If the OP isn't talking about the profiles, then I don't understand why there's even a question. An ad is an ad...of course the models who appear on the ads aren't members. Who in their right mind would think they would be?

I iz confuzzled.

Alt used to have some class.  It's gone now.

Could this advertising tactic be called a bitch 'n' switch?
