Don't take someone else's meds.  Antibiotics are prescribed based on the bacteria likely to cause a given infection; if it's the wrong antibiotic, it's unlikely to work.

They also kill bacteria indescriminately, so you're killing off the good bacteria in your gut as well--the ones that help with your immunity.  If your illness is viral and you're taking antibiotics, you're decreasing your immunity and likely to keep yourself sick for longer.

Any decent master ought to understand that you're sick and need rest.  If he doesn't, is he really worth your (or anyone's) service?  How much could you possibly trust someone who wouldn't want you to get well?

LadyPact -> RE: when a slave gets sick.... (8/30/2010 9:08:04 AM)

I have to agree with the others who are surprised that this question even had to be asked.  Did becoming a slave somehow change the metabolic make-up of being a human being that you were before you became owned?  Would the same question have been asked if it was another living creature, such as a four legged pet?  How about a work animal on a farm?

Do yourself two huge favors, OP.  First, stop taking medication prescribed for another person (especially an antibiotic) before you poison yourself or make your condition worse because you didn't receive the proper medical treatment.  The second is stop thinking that you are somehow physically different than anybody else just because you put on the magical slave title.

I understand completely the concern behind cost. However there are free clinics all over this nation that handle those with low income on a sliding scale. It takes just a few minutes on the internet to find them. As a dominant, I believe it is my responsibility to make sure that my submissive receives medical care. It's one of the reasons that I put away 20% of a live in's salary into a bank account that is reserved only for emergencies or if s/he leaves my household. I am notoriously chicken shit when it comes to needles. I had a bad dental absess a few years back and desperately needed to have the tooth pulled. When I dug in my heels on the day of the appointment and refused to go, my Mistress-Wife tried everything to coax me out the door. She finally put her foot down and said "if you refuse to go, you are removing my responsibility for your life from my hands. That voids our collar and our relationship. You will either go to the dentist or I will uncollar you." She loved me enough to stick to her guns and use the one thing that would make me go.

If a submissive is sick, the dominant has the ultimate responsibility to make sure s/he gets medical attention. Even if the submissive doesn't really want it. That's part of the deal. Just my 5 cents (2 cents plus 3 for inflation)

she's new to this, we should cut her some slack maybe.,

it doesnt matter how sick i am, it still feels like im skivving or playing hookey - i was in bed with an infected gall bladder for two weeks before they operated and my temp was so high i should have been dead, i still felt i was playing hookey.

in situations like this i do feel its up to someone, in this case a Master to tuck you up in bed, pass you a lemsip and a pile of mags and order you to stay there until you feel well enough - some of us are die hards is all.

OP, if you have the support of youre Master then accept that he's given you this time to get well and rest up.

SorceressJ -> RE: when a slave gets sick.... (8/30/2010 9:47:00 AM)

Subs and slaves are people, too. They have the same needs as anyone else. This is simple human reality no matter what anyone says, and is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of or feel that one has to apologise or feel guilty for. How many times do I have to say it?
Answer: when a slave gets sick, she/he is to seek whatever care, treatments or therapies are appropriate for whatever is wrong, and hopefully has the blessing of having someone to look after them as they get well. Just like everyone else, just like I said; not that I'm right about every damn little thing, but this is pretty elementary to me. [sm=2cents.gif]

You know I love you, lally, but when we have to cut people slack on common sense, there's an issue.

The same way I handle any family member getting sick.   You give them the medical attention, medicine and recovery time they need.

Twoshoes -> RE: when a slave gets sick.... (8/30/2010 10:23:27 AM)

That's cute, you're worried that taking care of yourself is selfish. Why do women get anxious about such things?

This whole situation would be remedied if you could order/teach a female slave to "chill". How convenient would it be...

Anxious slave: I'm really worried about... And I think I should be doing and I feel bad and...
M: Slave, chill.
s: Um?
M: Chill!
s: Um, but I'm worrying about...
M:Chill...
s: Excuse me, sir, how do I "chill"?
M: It'll be ok, I got this situation - including taking care of you - under control. You focus only on the colour white and breathe for 3 minutes. Now go back to bed.

Yes, that sounds good. Slaves should come with a "Chill out" button. Could call it a "Serenity" button for poetic purposes. Preferably, one that works fast.

Each of us can only do what he or she is able to do. When you are sick, you are not able to do as much as when you are healthy. That is the order of things.

I would also hope that your Owner would want proper care for his property. A man takes his car to the shop when it's out of sorts, his dog to the vet when it's out of sorts--why would the slave be treated any differently?

Carol's "normal duty" is to obey me. She's perfectly capable of doing that whether she is laid up in bed or not. It is obedience that matters to me, not whether she cooked dinner.

When Carol is sick, I take care of her.... wait on her hand and foot.... yes, dare I say it... serve her.

MstrPBK -> RE: when a slave gets sick.... (8/30/2010 1:18:21 PM)

The Master ought to be there for them, and the slave ought to be given enought time to recover regardless if it is a cold, or a major operation.

Good man.  she is a lucky sub to have One such as You to serve.

Aw, Jeff, that is beautiful.

I guess sometimes it's not only about having control, but what you choose to do with it.
Personally, from time to time, I feel the urge to be really really sweet. Other times, not so much. I hope the sweetness doesn't scare them off ... [;)]

i am a slave in a new situation just a month in service, my question is how do Y/you handle it when you or Yours gets sick?
i think i have bronchitis, and am taking some antibiotics left over from my Owners wife, she wont take them,, lol

It started the other day when i kept falling asleep, not normal for me, got hollered at for it sent to my room,
i felt like crud because of it, didnt know i was coming down with anything yet..

then came the cough chills and just tightness in my chest.
i was sent to bed early the other night and allowed to sleep in yesterday but still feeling pretty poorly,
i still want to do my normal duties, but feel like i cant, i am torn

In our household, if you are ill, your JOB is to get well, and to take the appropriate care of our servant (namely, yourself). That includes getting PROPER medical care -- especially for something like bronchitis. Now, in our household, that may include allopathic care, naturopathic care, and/or homeopathic care, but it -will- include actually seeing someone who can get a handle on what's going on. It does NOT include "self medication" with someone else's medicine in the hopes that things will go away.

If a servant is ill, someone will attend to those duties. I or SR will do it -ourselves- if necessary, to assure that one of our servants who is ill has the best possible chance to heal. One cannot take care of anyone else if one does not take care of oneself.

Wow, truer words were never spoken. In my opinion, it is ALWAYS about what you choose to do with it. Having control for control's sake just seems so pointless. As is always true, intent changes everything.

Ditto.

Being a slave doesn't mean your common sense is owned by someone else. Use it.

littlewonder -> RE: when a slave gets sick.... (8/30/2010 4:07:53 PM)

when I'm ill he makes sure I see a doctor, makes sure I'm taking care of myself, getting rest, etc...but depending on how ill I am, I'm still expected to do certain things or even....gasp...have sex with him. It just depends on just how sick I am. Not all illnesses mean I can't still do my duties.

TribeTziyon -> RE: when a slave gets sick.... (8/30/2010 4:10:13 PM)

There are lower end cost options for tratments. The clinics attached with some Target stores and CVS pharmacies are dramatically less than a regular doctor. Of course, they are best for minor things. Alot of drugs can be gotten for the $4 generic thing at various ntional pharmacies or chain stores. Taking antibiotics indiscriminately has an impact beyond just yourself- you can be contributing to making more bacteria resistant to them. MRSA and VRE are just a couple.
