The Ape species has many branches and we Homo Sapiens are but one branch that has evolved into the most inteligent species to date. Everything is in a constant, though gradual state of evolution. Has we evolve so to do the societies in which we live.

The last 10.000 years has seen the evolution from hunter gatherers to farmers and the rise of settled comunities that have evolved into complex societies within an urban enviroment.

During that time many empires have arisen and then fallen. During the last 500 years ancient Mogul and Ottoman empires gave rise to European Empires that later traversed the globe. The spanish ,portugese and genoese, who where later eclipsed by the British and French and others.

One nation alone stands responsible for much of what we are used to today. After the Rennaissance ,it gave birth to the modern democratic government systems which exist in most nations today. It also gave birth to the Industrial Revolution and can claim the majority of the worlds most famous scientists and inventors amongst its native born citizens.

Half of the worlds nation states owe their actual existance to this nation because it introduced democratic government and formed the boundaries of each state it created.

Half the worlds armed forces were also created by this particular nation.

It has the most chequered history of any nation be it ancient it modern.

Its people are not pure breed but rarther mongeral.

It is no longer the nation it once was and its power continues to decline.

Many nations emulate its customs and traditions, and language.

It has only ever lost one war out of several hundred it has fought since it became a nation.

It is loved by some and hated by many.

During its history it aspired to do far more good in the world than it ever did bad, though it gave its measure of both.

It is a nation that no other be it ancient or modern can ever hope to equal in terms of the rich diversity of its cheqered history.

Its once proud though often poor people, a couragious and hardy people who met and overcame all adversity and challenge levied against it. Today that people has been dilutted by large scale immigration of sponging oportunists who are deficient in courage and the moral fibre necessary to maintain the national identity and a common pride in shared history, ancestory and achievement.

Situated by accident of geography in a part of the globe where 6 different weather systems operate year round and clash so causing rapidly changing weather. Frequent warm summers and mild winters, occasionaly give rise to hot summers and cold winters. Grey clouded skies are the norm for two thirds of any year,in any given season.

Do you know of any nation states that can equal or surpass the one of which I briefly outline above? Which  nation do you favour to rise to prominants soon and which nation do believe will fall into obscure oblivion in the nations of the world?

I was getting rather dewey eyed until I read this paragraph which I violently disagree with. Britain has always had immigration and that immigration has always had a positive affect in the long term. However, the core population is still something like over 80% indiginous which surprised me when I read that statistic. When I say indiginous I mean people from the Celtic and north Germanic tribes.

His description.

I don't necessarily agree with everything he wrote to be true but one can bask in fantasy. Democracy doesn't exist in most countries.

Most of what you list applies quite well to the Roman Empire.

Democracy as evolved in a retrograde manner. That is because today, democracy has been reduced to people placing the X beside the name of a complete stranger. That stranger then gets elected and spends 3 to 5 years living it up at your expense and assisting in passing laws that further interfer with and restrict your own personal liberties. Any attempt to challenge the democratically elected politicians usually results in arrest and incarceration,Even in America. True democracy exists nowhere in the world today.
