Status: offline 		IMNSHO s&j, a slave seeks to give over total authority to the Dom, making the Dom the Master/Mistress. A submissive only seeks to give over authority in certain situations and/or places. A slave is more giving of themselves to the Dominant while a submissive is giving as long as they're receiving. Now thats not to say that being a slave is a selfless act. In fact, it could be argued that it is more selfish then submission, but a slave seeks to put the Masters demands ahead of their own.

Call yourself a sub since its more common and generally better percieved for a newbie.
But over time you will surpass the sterotypes of labels and then it wont matter so much.

Status: offline 		I define the difference as being committment.  A slave has an owner/master but that same slave is a submissive if she's alone.
 
Think of submissive as being a woman and slave as being a wife.  All wives are women but not all women are wives = all slaves are submissives but not all submissives are slaves.

Status: offline 		I know you asked this question of the Masters only... but you can choose not to read my response.  Huge warning bells go off for me when a woman asks others to tell her who she is, to validate her being... and so I would pose some questions to you... Why is a title so important to you?  If you were never called anything but woman, would you serve the same way?  If no one claimed you, would you still be a submissive woman, would you still identify yourself as one who serves?  What does a title do for you?  Does it give you a sense of legitimacy?  A sense of hierarchy?  Are you on some level looking for a 'gold star' to announce yourself with... IE.. Hello one and all, I am Jen and not just a submissive but a SLAVE?

My other question is.. If you can not answer this question you asked (which seems very important to you) all on your own, how and WHY on earth would you want another, who doesn't know you at all, to answer it for you?

The profile doesn't come up but it's not unusual for couples to work off one profile....  Could it not be "this person" is a couple, possibly new to the lifestyle and are asking their questions from all perspectives?

Likely, I'll leave that up to others.

What I do know is that there is no profile, for a while there was a sigline link which took you to a page of iPod giveaways and such, no one specifies, ever, not even in the intro, that there are 2 people, or is ever reference made to the other person.

For example, John and I are exploring the idea he may also have a switch side, or something to that effect.

Also, many of the questions (judge for yourself) seem to be looking for answers like:

"Well, Master spanks me and then slowly..........."

Just my opinion, and you have the right to yours.

Status: offline 		It's simply this. Submission is temporary, borrowed, typified by several or many night stands or sessions, and then they part and forget about each other for awhile. Slavery is not temporary,  slavery is being owned even when your not together, it is long term.

Status: offline 		I would say that until you educate yourself on the lifestyle and have enough experiences to decide that submission isn't for you then you're a sub...that is until you hear a loud metal clink sound of a collar being secured to your neck. If at that time you're willing to give all that you are and any decisions that you need to make over to your dominant then you might be a slave.

Personal GRRR  lately is newbie boys sending emails that they are sitting at my feet and can't wait to be mine signed slave Bob or scott or whatever. You talk to them for a little while and it comes out that they are kink virgins and read "somewhere" [cough porn] that a slave was more desirable.

I have to agree that it is utterly ridiculous to expect someone else to define who and what you are. My advice, search within yourself, there is an answer, the only true one you will find.
