Again, the BBC was forced to admit its leftist bias as recently as a 2007 report. Tht doesnt mean that was the end of it, that just means thats the last time it was admitted to.

Who forced them Sanity?

As usual, when you get backed into a corner you start making shit up.

BBC report damns its 'culture of bias' - Times Online

THE BBC is institutionally biased, an official report will conclude this week. The year-long investigation, commissioned by the BBC.....

But hey, be sure to let me know when Fox News, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Post, or the Washington Examiner conduct internal investigations of their own bias.

Sanity -> RE: BBC Chief Admits A 'Massive' Lean To Left (9/2/2010 8:32:37 PM)

Brits have to buy licenses if they own a TV and that combined with the notorious BBC bias sparked enough public outrage to force the BBC to finally admit what thinking people knew all along, rml.

Why not try looking these things up on your own once in a while?

And BBC is vastly different than FOX or WSJ in that its Government TV, much like PBS so their bias is effectively government propaganda paid for by the British public.

Freedom of speech and freedom of the press are not the same as taxpayers being forced to subsidize a political party's campaign through a nationalized broadcasting corporation, forced to pay for the propaganda whether they agree with that partys platform or not.

"notorious BBC bias"

What colour us the sky on your planet Sanity?

Sanity -> RE: BBC Chief Admits A 'Massive' Lean To Left (9/2/2010 8:37:50 PM)

See rmls post above, the BBC has admitted to its bias already so in other words its a very pretty blue here on Earth.

Hows the sky in whatever bizarre world you inhabit?

I have looked it up, as you might guess from the link I gave you.

This is not the first time you've brought up the 2007 report, and I gave you more links then.

So why don't you try to find me something that backs the claims you made above, that public outrage sparked the investigation and that the BBC is a propaganda tool of the government.

Sanity -> RE: BBC Chief Admits A 'Massive' Lean To Left (9/2/2010 8:47:56 PM)

You really believe that the BBC admitted that its been a propaganda machine for years and years out of the goodness of its bureaucratic heart? [:D]

I believe what's been reported by other sources about the BBC's internal investigation.

If you don't, present some proof, not innuendo.

DCWoody -> RE: BBC Chief Admits A 'Massive' Lean To Left (9/2/2010 8:56:53 PM)

You can pretend not to have gone back to/noticed threads wherein your posts have been shown up, ya can't do it with individual posts in a thread you're still posting in.

Or rather, you can.....but you're just making a fool of yourself. I would like to think that insofar as anyone's noticed me in this suboard, I've demonstrated relative neutrality, lack of partisan...ism, and a willingness to admit when I'm wrong. And probably being a bit of a rude bastard too. And a cock big enough to hang a lampshade. I don't consider myself a 'leftist' anyways....whatever such a ridiculous label even means in most contexts. You are something of a byword round here, and not for your username. I don't know how many of the regulars take heed of anything you say...and it's not hard to see why. Your increasing lack of rationality and jumping around a debate make it difficult to discuss anything with you. It'd probably be good to try and have some subjects you don't mentally asign to the left/right my team/my opponents thing americans have going.

You need to get a grip...you are not perfect, sometimes you will be mistaken, sometimes you will read a news story that appears otherwise than the reality of the situation, and it is okay to admit this, at least to yourself. That is pretty much what newspapers do. The universe is not set up to prove all your assumptions correct.

Sanity -> RE: BBC Chief Admits A 'Massive' Lean To Left (9/2/2010 9:06:53 PM)

You obviously have a lot invested in believing the BBC is godlike in its impartiality, and Im sorry to have to be the one to prick your bubble DC.

DCWoody -> RE: BBC Chief Admits A 'Massive' Lean To Left (9/2/2010 9:09:04 PM)

Oh well.

Sanity -> RE: BBC Chief Admits A 'Massive' Lean To Left (9/2/2010 9:35:16 PM)

No, the internal investigation didnt happen by chance rml, but believe what you will.

Indeed, but the time Thompson was talking of was when he joined the BBC, thirty years ago.

hertz -> RE: BBC Chief Admits A 'Massive' Lean To Left (9/4/2010 5:41:32 AM)

So, who exactly are these left-wingers who were polluting our TV sets with their disgusting liberal views in 2007?

Andrew Neil - rabid, spittle-flecked right-winger presented 'Westminster Live' and regular contributor to 'This Week'.

Michael Portillo - Thatcherite has-been, regular contributor to 'This Week'

John Humphreys - conservatism with a small 'c', presenter of the 'Today' show.

Nick Robinson - former head of the Young Conservatives, and political editor of the BBC.

Michael Burke - raving mad misogynist and right wing twat, chairs 'The Moral Maze'.

Chris Moyles - malevolent fat DJ, racist and Tory faithful -does a slot for Radio 1.

Jeremy Clarkson - allegedly humorous Tory man-in-the-street and  presenter of 'Top Gear'.

John Gaunt - no-one knows who he is, but he's a right-winger.

Anyway, there's a story here from 2007 which suggests that the bias was actually in the other direction.

I think this is a non-story. I'm not at all surprised that it has been seized upon by the right as evidence that their looney-tune views have some credence.

mnottertail -> RE: BBC Chief Admits A 'Massive' Lean To Left (9/4/2010 5:50:50 AM)

Well, perhaps it is more productive to ask WHY there is a liberal media bias, could it be that conservatives have nothing intelligent to contribute, since they seem to lack a grasp of fact and information?

Lucylastic -> RE: BBC Chief Admits A 'Massive' Lean To Left (9/4/2010 6:39:37 AM)

no no no its not biased, its just pumpin out propaganda, like ermmm yanno Pravda and before that the Germans socialists did, fox is the only believable source in the whole world after drudge.

paranoia and fear dont deal with the liberal media

Aneirin -> RE: BBC Chief Admits A 'Massive' Lean To Left (9/4/2010 6:57:11 AM)

Anyone that thinks tv is more than entertainment is deluded, yeah, there is some education on there, but little all else that is worth switching the thing on for and with our recent compulsory change over to digital, tv programming has gone seriously down hill, give me analogue any day, four or five channels, but it was far better than the multi whatever channels of crap we have now. Definitely not one of Tony Blair's better ideas.

But aside from crap programming, there is the crappy digital signal which keeps cutting out and then the signal decoder boxes failing, we have got less of a service than we had before, aye quantity but not quality and we still have to pay the BBC license fee, where one is deemed to be guilty until they are proved innocent over ownership of a tv, one's word is not good enough. But BBC, if I watch tv, well have the tv on, I am becoming more dismayed with what BBC feed us now.

DCWoody -> RE: BBC Chief Admits A 'Massive' Lean To Left (9/4/2010 7:19:07 AM)

@Anerin, Broadcasting Act 1990, bit before Blairs time.

You know you're scraping the barrel when ya quote mine the dailymail.

LOL.....Sanity. Sometimes you make me just laugh with your sense of reality! 'As the OP indicates'? Dude, YOUR, that OP! Most people would have said 'As I stated in the original post....' or something similar, but wouldn't refer themselves in the third person! Or are you trying to lend credibility to your arguement, by making others think, 'Sanity', is a different person from.....'Sanity'? You do know, we can scroll up, to see the original poster's name, right?

Sanity -> RE: BBC Chief Admits A 'Massive' Lean To Left (9/4/2010 8:31:10 AM)

What I meant by OP is original post joe, thank me later.

Pure bullshit, the BBC has an independance that corporate owned stations can only dream of. Anyone thinking otherwise needs to get a grip.
