"Throughout his career in Top 40 radio, Beck was known for his imitations of “black guy” characters and racist tropes. According to Beck’s former colleagues in the late 90s, this included mocking unarmed blacks shot and killed by white police officers. Such was the case of Malik Jones, the victim of a controversial killing that took place in 1997.

“After the shooting, Beck sometimes did a racist shtick,” remembers Paul Bass, a former radio host and Beck colleague at a Clear Channel station cluster in New Haven. “Glenn did routines about Jones’ grandmother being on crack. Generally he made fun of his family and the loss of life -- as joke routines.”

Beck’s racially tinged tirades did not disappear after he switched formats in 1999. During his first talk radio stint in Tampa, he often referred to the Rev. Jesse Jackson as “the stinking king of the race lords.” Most recently, Beck has worked to resuscitate the names of famously anti-civil rights figures from the history of his adopted Mormon faith. He has respectfully played tapes of Ezra Taft Benson, who thought Martin Luther King was a communist agent out to destroy the Mormon Church (and who once wrote the foreward to a book of race hate whose cover illustration featured the severed, bloody head of an African American). Beck has also implored his viewers to read the “divinely inspired” books of W. Cleon Skousen, another John Birch Society fantasist who believed that the civil rights movement was part of a worldwide Communist (and, later, “New World Order”) conspiracy.

The above gives some sense, but barely scratches the surface of, Beck’s long and disgraceful record on race. The Fox News host has also played a key role in the conservative attempts to whip up white opposition to Barack Obama by painting the president’s health and environmental agendas as Trojan horses for “stealth reparations” for black Americans. For much of the summer of 2009, Beck ranted about the alleged “black nationalism” of Van Jones, a White House environmental official who resigned last September after what Jones described as conservatives’ “vicious smear campaign” against him. Beck also helped lead the racially charged cavalry charges against ACORN and Eric Holder’s Justice Department (for its handling of the New Black Panther Party “scandal”.)"

Hippie here is a snip from an earlier article on Glenn Beck, even the righties have to admit this is subhuman behavior:

The animosity between Beck and Kelly continued to deepen. When Beck and Hattrick produced a local version of Orson Welles' "War of the Worlds" for Halloween -- a recurring motif in Beck's life and career -- Kelly told a local reporter that the bit was a stupid rip-off of a syndicated gag. The slight outraged Beck, who got his revenge with what may rank as one of the cruelest bits in the history of morning radio. "A couple days after Kelly's wife, Terry, had a miscarriage, Beck called her live on the air and says, 'We hear you had a miscarriage,' " remembers Brad Miller, a former Y95 DJ and Clear Channel programmer. "When Terry said, 'Yes,' Beck proceeded to joke about how Bruce [Kelly] apparently can't do anything right -- about he can't even have a baby."

"It was low class," says Miller, now president of Open Stream Broadcasting. "There are certain places you just don't go."

I know there will be a cry of hatchet job and other defenses for this ignorant motherfucker, there will be questioning of the source, none of it means a fucking thing.  Any one that defends this shit is just as big a fucktard as Beck.

Journalistically,

TY, pogo. I'm going to use that info on a similar Blech thread elsewhere. Not that the Twoo Beweevers will detach themselves from Beck's anus...

You forgot his alcoholism.

Sort of lumping all the chemicals onto one word..but yes alcoholism too.

servantforuse -> RE: Blech the Racist (9/3/2010 9:13:35 AM)

If you don't like him, don't listen to him. Let it go.

Why don't you call up someone at the Tides Foundation and see if their not listening to him has worked out for them? Or maybe you should ask the CHP officers who were shot at by Byron Williams if turning him off kept them safe?

I don't fucking listen to him, I just have to hear about his antics on the fucking nightly news two to three nights a week, ok?  On top of that I have to "hear" from his "supporters" on what is supposed to be a kink website every day.

A bunch of drama queens. If someone takes a shot at an officer, they are the bad guys, not a radio host.

Sure because the convict had some other reason to turn his attention on an obscure charity hundreds of miles from where he lived.

I seem to recall the right getting mighty pissy about some black guy in Philly saying things that encouraged violence. Well here we have an instance where a guy goes on the TV and radio day after day telling gullible fools that some charity most people have never heard of is destroying the world and is at the center of a vast socialist/nazi/communist conspiracy to destroy America. When one of his followers finally takes action Beck is not to be blamed at all? That's like saying the arsonist who poured the gas and struck the match didn't destroy the building, the fire did.

I don't listen to that sick fuck

Hillwilliam -> RE: Blech the Racist (9/3/2010 12:37:02 PM)

I toss Beck in with Farakahn.  Both are racist hatemongers.  One is a lefty, one is a righty.  Both of them are oxygen thieves.

heartcream -> RE: Blech the Racist (9/3/2010 12:58:57 PM)

Let it go? Why? I dont get that philosophy at all.

joether -> RE: Blech the Racist (9/3/2010 1:05:53 PM)

I hate to tell you, Hillwilliam, but Mr. Farakahn isn't on the left. He's on his own side. But I do agree with you, there are quite a bit of hatemongers on the left. They aren't oxygen thieves, they are a waste of oxygen.

Mr. Beck is allowed his viewpoint, up to a certain point. That's the limit of the 1st Amendment (fortunately for us sane Americans). He can tell all the lies and misinformation he wants. As there is plenty of history, recording his lame comments for prosperity. So we can tell the next generation "Here is an example of an idiot, racist Republican".

Editorial cartoonist actually worried at the end of the Bush Administration, that they would have to work hard again, now with a serious President in office. What they didn't know, was the wide amount of conservatives, who still behave the same as Mr. Bush. There is a site that I visit every workday. Most of it, is bashing conservatives/Republicans; but some does bash Obama/Democrats. The Association of American Editorial Cartoonists. It prints the fewest cartoons on Monday, but the majority in time for the Sunday papers. The one I list the most, is from Clay Bennett Chattanooga Times Free Press. His works are generally good arguements on the issues of the day.

DomYngBlk -> RE: Blech the Racist (9/3/2010 2:05:40 PM)

Hatemongers on the left? Care to elaborate?

Hillwilliam -> RE: Blech the Racist (9/3/2010 2:30:53 PM)

The man was fairly well known for saying "By any means necessary including violence"  that is where he and Dr King disagreed.  Dr King took more of the Ghandi approach.

There was also an activist in miami back in the '80's who's real name was Hulon Mitchell.  His handle was Yaweh bin Yaweh (God, son of God)  hey, if you're gonna have an ego, go all the way ya know.  Anyway, he was cleaning up Liberty city and the city fathers thought that he was doing such a wonderful job that they would issue a proclamation in his honor and name a street after him.  They ignored some rumors about the activities of his "inner circle" and credited it to "Jealous Anglos"

Turns out he was moving more of this (at the time) new stuff called "crack" than anyone had ever seen before and to enter his inner circle, you had to bring him the ears of a "white devil".  You got it, kill a random white dude and prove it.

His address is now the Metro Dade Correctional complex.  Multiple counts of murder, Racketeering, Drug distribution and importing, the usual fun stuff.  I think he is on the same floor as Noriega  (ex dictator of Panama)

sick dude

Miami was full of fun stuff like that back in the 70's and 80's.

Alternet and Salon arent sources, this thread is a joke. The far lefts desperate smear campaign against Glenn Beck is a tribute to how terrified they are of him, and nothing more. Do you realize there are three active Glenn Beck threads, along with one active thread about FOX NEWS?

Says the man who quotes Breaitbart the liar, Drudge the guy who got breitbart started, Malkin who is afraid of paisley etc.

Sanity -> RE: Blech the Racist (9/3/2010 6:29:21 PM)

Still more people who are obsessively demonized by the far left...

And your little rant does nothing to change the fact that this thread is based on absolute dogshit sources.
