I've had friends die. As well as a few relatives. Generally a spouse or child notifies you. Writes up a nice letter of the untimely death.

In fact a cousin of mine. Wife is a nurse. He caught the flu a few years back. Felt ill about 48 hours before he went to the ER. He died there. Fluke. I talked to him all of the time. Not his masses of kids.

So she (one of the kids) notified me via his e-mail address. Now we talk all of the time.

His stuff...still around. I don't think anybody knows all of the passwords and all of the sites a person frequents. So bits and pieces of you will remain until the end of the internet.

On my comp I have a note that is locked, in it are instructions on how to erase my existence from online sources. No more facebook, no more myspace, no collar me, nothing will remain of me online that will give the impression that I am alive.

The code is given to my best friends and family, to be enacted in order by a list of people, if one cannot the next person will.

I tend to think too much...

I have a dear friend who passed away almost two years ago from cancer. His profile on MyDungeonspace remains as a tribute to Him, and is worded to cause no confusion.
As for Me, My Husband knows what to do. I've made sure of it. Beyond that, hey, I'll be dead, and will no longer be worried about what anyone else thinks.

This reminds me of the new Banksy interview.

I found out one of my online buddies died on his facebook page. One of his friends posted the news on his wall, his page is still up, people go and post there still. When I think of him I will go to his wall and read the posts from others that miss him.

I am still mad at him, he was a handsome young man (35) and he killed himself. I guess after his divorce, losing his job, his house, going through all his savings, moving back in with his religious fundamentalist parents got to him so badly he took his own life. He was so funny, and intelligent, and I enjoyed many hours of talking to him. One of those rare people I added to my facebook that I met on a corner of the internet... there are only a handful of internet friends I have added to my facebook.

then I hope they would remember to do so...because my mum should know that I would never want to be burried normailly I always wanted to be burned at first (to ensure I am properly dead)...and I doubt that she would bother to get that part sorted

My son has promised to make certain any personal business, as well as banking etc. is handled. My toys, it isn't as if my nosey vultures haven't already stumbled across them, so there won't be any shock there. My computer is used by my family as well, so there's not a lot on it that would shock anyone. Not that was put there by me anyway. I'm sometimes shocked by the crap my boys save. Besides, by then, if they haven't an idea what fetish or BDSM is, it is probably time for them to get a clue.

In my younger days, my best friend and I had a pact that if something happened to one of us, the other would hurry over to our secret "stash" of sex toys and clean them up before the mothers or mother-in-laws showed up.

One of my dearest friends is passing... I hope that she has her passwords written down somewhere! Her stuff, her daughter and I will deal with. She is a savvy young woman, but doesn't know EVERYTHING. Nor does she want to!

I've just found out (by way of my brother's ex who turns out to be the same year of high school as I) that I am listed as dead.  Yess. on the Memorial wall even.
*laughies*
I love it, told her Not to tell or change a thing.
After I'm gone for reallies - I sure hope the 'edit' button works!
if not, I've decided it's all good - let them find out and go " wow.. She was into that?"

oh just think of the possibilities, a thousand years from now, having one inane post or another being discovered and heralded as wisdom from the ancients!
