Hello Everyone! I am currently in the military (guard) and i had planed on making it a career eventually after i completed all of my schooling. I kind of figured it would be nice to be able to travel a majority of the world with the added perk of getting paid to do so. However, this kind of makes it difficult to meet people who...are into the same things. I understand there were some other posts involving this subject but i just couldn't find the answer that i was really looking for. So i was wondering if Dom/me's have trouble owning a person that is actively serving or they just try not to get involved with them? I am not going to lie like the last three relationships i have been in this subject was a deal breaker and it was part of the reason it ended. They basically said it was them or the military.[sm=sigh.gif] I really would appreciate some advice on this i feel very lost right now.

Hi, H: It's not very different for a D/s relationship than a vanilla one: are you going to be in one particular town long enough to form a LTR? If not, it's not worth a good woman's time, unless she just wants a one-month stand. The difference being, it generally takes a month or so just to start to get to the good stuff with a lifestyle Domme. But in Canada at least, most military postings are from a home base where you'd have the opportunity to find a Domme and be collared [we tend to love a man in uniform: so obedient!], then postings generally lasting six to twelve months where just like vanillas you'd have to be monogamous and chaste in the field. And remember, lots of guys in the military are subs, and the new silicone chastity devices even come in camo! Good luck.

I kinda think a career in the military is going to be a dealbreaker for any dom who doesn't see himself tied to the military for the rest of his life. Why not try to find a dom who is in the military too?

It's really no different than a vanilla relationship. There are some people out there who do not want a partner that will be traveling around the world with their career rather than being home every night. There are some Dominants that will have a problem with it. Others won't. It's going to depend completely on the individual that you are dealing with.

I agree with LadyPact. It's all about the people involved and how willing you are to work at making the relationship work. If you're both willing to compromise and be understanding of each other, then anything is possible. For example, you might consider staying Guard or Reserve rather than go active duty, if that was more acceptible for your prospective partner. It's something you'll have to discuss with the person when the time comes.

I'd think that if anything, dealing with people who are used to the military would increase her chances of finding a partner who could handle the travel. I'm a military brat and it took me years to realize that my understanding of acceptable availability (based on my dad's constant travels when I was a kid) was very different than the average person's. The amount of separation is far from ideal, but if you've learned how to maintain healthy relations within those constraints, I would think that's a skill set that would translate easily to D/s.

im in the military and also a collared slave.my advice is just do as you are now and look for local munches and play places. as far as finding a dominant ltr that will be up to you and the dominant. i was willing to drive 3 hours to meet someone from alt and not play the first time as it turned out W/we were only 10 min apart. as i was only going to be there for a year i was just seeking a play partner. at the time my Mistress had limits on married and older, but as W/we played and grew as a poly family those became less of limits. now i have been collared for nearing 3 years, the point is that W/we were willing to work on it even while i was deployed. so put in a honest effort and be truthfull and im sure that you will find a partner.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts on this! It gives me some hope that maybe i can find a Dom that likes to travel to. [:D] I planned on staying in the guard till i actually finished school and re-evaluate where i am from there. Thank you LadyPact and LPslittleclip for some of the valuable insight you both gave. [:)]
