Why does what you describe remind me of Morticia Adams cutting off not just the buds of the roses, but the whole flower, just leaving the stem only? I mean, maybe in her case, we could say that she wanted the beautiful moments as you call it to last longer, and wished them to be healed and savored ever the more--course it was also suppose to be odd-ball humor too. Of, course that was just a silly thought I had. But, really, you had a really neat observation about the meaning of life there. I don't think most would take the time to ponder it but thank you for sharing. It was interesting. I don't have a green thumb, so I only wish I knew how to care for plants properly in real life, but metaphorically your meaning was quite clear to me.
