I have a few rose bushes under my kitchen window and as I was trimming them I was remembering something My Lady said with an evil/kink smile about how "Roses LOVE to be cut." Well that had me thinking on a lot of different things.

In this life it is often compared to a rose and the oh so typical question of gee do you like the thorn or the rose. Better yet it is the perfect combination of both comment.

For me I started thinking about the concept of time and the nature of a rose bush in order for it to flourish. You see once a rose blooms it is glorious and for a time maybe even a week or so the bloom is gorgeous.......but then it fades. In order for the next bloom to occur the old bud must be cut off. It heals and the next bloom appears.

Time is that way, something beautiful occurs and it is special and priceless. We want to hang on to it forever but unless we let it go....cut it.....it just withers. The cutting or allowing the time to pass is what allows the other next special times to occur.

The rose bush as well needs to be trimmed in order to grow. The better the rose bush is cut the more it heals, grows, and thrives.

To me it seemed the similarities to BDSM were huge. That in our play we bloom no matter what style that maybe it is our way of ....... cleansing if you will of the old. Then time must pass before the next special beautiful moment can occur.

That in between our moments of plays we as a bush can grow. That it takes a wise Master/Mistress to know when to cut, when not cut, and when to tenderly care for a special rosebush that though it has a deep strength of its own still needs someone that knows when to cut.

Okay those are my weird thoughts for now I wanted to share. BTW cut is not literal here (Though enjoy that if it is your kink!) but a mere analogy. LOL Fill like I should quote Mark Twain now.......bonus points for those who know that means!

Why does what you describe remind me of Morticia Adams cutting off not just the buds of the roses, but the whole flower, just leaving the stem only? I mean, maybe in her case, we could say that she wanted the beautiful moments as you call it to last longer, and wished them to be healed and savored ever the more--course it was also suppose to be odd-ball humor too. Of, course that was just a silly thought I had.

But, really, you had a really neat observation about the meaning of life there. I don't think most would take the time to ponder it but thank you for sharing. It was interesting. I don't have a green thumb, so I only wish I knew how to care for plants properly in real life, but metaphorically your meaning was quite clear to me.
