I'd rather see Petraeus run. He hasn't held office but that never stopped anyone before. He DOES, however, know politics. (noone gets to be a general and not know politics). As for him being CinC. he has the experience for that. He knows what it is like in other parts of the world (unlike our last 6 or 7 presidents). He would be a conservative without being a nutbag about it. He knows how terrible war is and he wouldnt get us involved in another one just because he got a hardon for someone that thumbed his nose at daddy. If someone DID attack us, he would fight to WIN. I think he could unite the country.

Yeah, but do we know his political party? And what chances to convince him to run? We had a similar chance with ..... damn! it's hard getting old. AND the Dems are going to run Obama who would beat Whitman.... Whitman against Clinton? THAT circus waits until 2016, by which time everyone will be tired of Palin. Obama will win in 2012 unless he does something stupid. As they say "It's his to lose."

Why are the Republicans so keen to see a woman who quit a job as a state governer because she resented the press having a go at her nominated as a Presidential candidate? You'd think they'd be desperate to put up almost anybody else at this point.

Palin running for president is a lefty wet dream, and nothing more. Why would anyone elect Whitman? She helped run NJ into the ground. I'd really like to see Mitch Daniels run, he'd kick Obama's ass in both debate, and in an election.

Unfortunately for America the 2012 GOP primary slate is pretty clear and just plain awful. Palin Gingrich Santorum Huckabee Pawlenty Jindal Romney Romney's the best of the lot and he cannot win the nomination. Seems likely to be Gingrich or Palin.

The simple fact is there is a limited pool of top poltical campaign workers and an even more limited pool of campaign donors and the above have got the money and the workers. Anyone who isn't on that list will have to rely on the Fred Thomson strategy and we all saw how well that worked in 2008.
