Does anyone here belly dance and have any information about it? I have been dancing for some time now, but really want to go all out with it and perform for my dom. Does anyone have information where to get a good costume (cheaply, perferably lol), accessories, or just tips and tricks to make the dance better. Information about good music to dance to would also be highly appriciated. Hmmmmmmmmm ...... perhaps you could do a photo shoot with this =] I belly dance as well, but the costume did not come cheap. I got my dancing belt .. the one with the coins .. at an East Indian store, and it was about $100. I made my own veils from fabric from the remnant box at the fabric store, and hand-sewed the sparkly trim. The shoes I wear [else I go barefoot] are ballet-type slippers. A note about costumes .. the ones from costume stores are not made for dancing ... they are for the Stand&Modellers <grin> and may fall apart with heavy use. Hope this helps too =))) I tend to agree with you the costume does not come cheap if you want it to hold up. The coin scarf could run you from $35-110, the way I learned we danced barefoot (so we didn't need to buy shoes). When we had an occasion to dance in shoes it was weird, didn't feel natural. But there are so many different styles and some do wear shoes. Veils are easy to make from remnants of sheer fabric but beware you will need about 5-6 feet so that it flows nicely. Then you need zils/cymbals to put on your fingers if you want to add that into your dance. Don't forget that sexXxy (heavy) coin bra. *giggling* Oh the memories of dancing. But as mentioned the ones from those costume stores are NOT made to withstand dancing.
