ORIGINAL: cuckoldmepls The Obama administration has blocked efforts by the South Korean government to sell over a hundred thousand surplus M1 Garand and Carbine rifles into the United States market. These self-loading were rifles introduced in 1926 and 1941. http://www.infowars.com/obama-bans-more-than-100000-american-made-rifles/ These are semi automatic weapons people, which we can already buy here in the United States. There's no reason to deny these sales of historical weapons. You were waiting for evidence that Obama is anti Gun, well here it is. Another genius relying on Alex Jones for their "news"? I suppose that's about the best we can expect from the cucktard. The importation of these South Korean Garands has been a topic of great discussion on the CMP and other firearm related forums. These are rifles that were rode hard and put away wet, literally. S. Korean Garands that have been imported recently in smaller lots have been absolute crap. The bores are so corroded that many will not even chamber a cartridge. The ones in any measure of salable condition would have a hard time even qualifying as rack grade. They're junk. That being said, the reason they aren't coming into the country is a little more complicated than "Obama hatex gunz!". The firearms were part of a MAP grant to the S. Koreans, and there are specific terms that come into play when the grantee no longer has a use for the grant materials. The S. Korean government can sell the rifles and give the money, less packing costs, directly to the US government or they can return the rifles to the US government and bill for the packing costs incurred. Since the S. Koreans know the Garands have a considerably higher value on the commercial market, they tried to pull a fast one and attempted to get them into the US via an importer. This is not the first time someone has tried this. Now, anyone who wants to obtain one of these historical weapons can certainly do so through the CMP. While this lot from S. Korea will likely never see US soil, they are constantly getting Garands from other sources (despite Obama's "anti-gun" labeling) and adding them to inventory. www.odcmp.org ~stef
