G'morning all:

(Fast Reply)
Bloody hell, 10 pages debating politeness? I think I gave up around page 6.

OP, here's the scoop. You have unrealistic expectations. No one else is going to conform to your ideals. We all have different interpretations of what politeness entails. Get over it, it's the internet. Hit block/delete and live your life. Mon dieu.

You assign me expectations? Really like what? The world will suddenly have an Epiphany and world peace insues?

No one will Conform to my expectations? Really? So any point made by anyone means they expect the world to conform to them? Sorry I will not conform to your ideals.

Dang this is the Internet? I thought it was a Burger Joint. Come on lol.

This is a place for, Oh my goodness, discussions. Where someone starts a thread, and people read it, reply, like it or not. Very rarely does it lead to a mental break through or for that matter a mental break down.

11 pages so far. So someone thought they had a reply worth making, even it was to tell me to FO. Pretty much as you are doing lol.

Have a great day. I am. Even if I do not meekly conform to your demand to close this ongoing discussion.[;)]

OP, why don't you just agree to disagree

This is what I think.......does anyone else here get the feeling that the OP is trying to Dom us all? Trouble is, none of us (on either side of the kneel) are His submissives.

~sweetsub~

You mean like you just did by stating an opinion? In a way you are right. All discussion could be considered a battle fought with words as weapons.

However, for most to be dominated I think something more might be required. But if you feel like that, you are welcome to your feelings. As for me, I am just talking to a number fo people, most of whom disagree with me lol. Sharing ideas and disagreeing is just human nature.

That is exactly what the OP did, started out being antagonistic from the beginning. The OP attempted to pit the "Masters" against the "subby women" in an attempt to make herself look better than all the rest. She didnt care what a submissive woman's reasons may have been for being single for a long time... she merely wanted confirmation, and even approval, for her own opinion and attempted to manipulate "Masters" into agreeing with her.

Quick point this was mentioned previously, and used as a point to show how not to do this. The issue is not people doing it badly, but if someone was polite, could we not allow them a request. Not should we cater to people being jerks.

Structure removed for brevity.

I'm guessing you didn't have your Wheaties today. Oi. Relax. Get your thong out of your backside. I merely pointed out not everyone is the world is going to share or meet your expectations for polite interactions, especially here on the net. If you didn't have your ego crammed up your heiny, you would've nodded sagely and promptly went on to the next post. Am I telling you to bugger off? No. I'm suggesting that people are fallible, that they are individuals and as such, will not conform to your ideals. As such, they need not "respect" your wishes to refrain from posting, so long as they don't violate TOS. This is a semi public forum and open to all members that obey the posting rules.

Your disjointed ramblings are amusing. If only as comic relief. Please feel free to have the last word as you obviously seem to require it for your tender ego.

Stay safe, play nice & share your toys w/ others...

What you did was start a discussion with a rather harsh opinion that others who do not have the same etiquette as yourself were rude....

When one goes on the Gorean forum, they usually conform to Gorean etiquette or they are ignored. In other words, they start their post with "Greetings" and they either address it to whom they are speaking, or they address it to everyone at large. Goreans are a structured bunch, and since it is a forum dominated by men professing to believe in a Sci Fi series as a guide to life, the etiquette works for them...

It seems you would like to export your rules of behavior off Gor and transplant them on to planet Earth. Doing this is a bit like a woman barging into a mosque demanding to pray with the men, or like Indians coming to the USA and taking a dump in the street, or like someone from Europe treating a public pool like it is the Riviera and going topless. It is like showing up at work at a fortune 500 company wearing fetwear... it just doesn't fly!

Your etiquette is different than ours. It is not "right" or "wrong", it is different. You want the rest of us to conform to you, when in reality you are in Rome and not doing what the Romans do. You are the one that is being rude by not conforming the norms of expected behavior that guide the rest of the fora that is not Gorean. And yes, the fact you are Gorean is very important to this entire discussion, because you are so obviously used to your own little section of the CM universe that you are having trouble with the rest of the natives on here.

Only when I start a thread. And only if people continue replying. Someone even bitched cause I failed to reply to him lol.

However sure, we had an interesting discussion that is mostly over unless something new arises. Did we come to any belief where we all agreed? That is never to even be hoped for. Did we see many different and interesting opinions expressed? I certainly thought so.

Therefore I accomplished the only thing anyone with real expectations could want. A discussion that for the most part was amiacable.

I would like to think that if others posted several good reasons why my opinion should change I would consider changing it...

It has been brought to your attention that no one owns a thread, that the ideas put on a thread belong to the community, therefore you have no right to deprive the community of the insight any contributor wants to impart

You have had a moderator point out that crossposting is not only annoying, but it is against the TOS

Since the site is owned by individuals other than you, that decide what is and isn't rude, you should either abide by those rules in a congenial way, or get the fuck off their site. Imagine you invite several people to your home, and one of them insists on telling all of your guests who can talk and who cannot at YOUR party? I bet you would find that rude.

You have not changed your mind about your perception of what is rude and what is not, even when it has been pointed out to you numerous times that the rules were set up for THIS community in the way that the owners wanted them to be. Now, you can either be so entrenched in your opinion that you close your mind when provided with new information... or you can show yourself to be a person that considers new information and can change their mind.... I think I can guess which direction you will go

VaguelyCurious -> RE: Having the right vs being in the right (Rant) (9/11/2010 11:58:44 PM)

Have to say I agree with Julia. And I wouldn't call much of this discussion amicable, OP-I'd call it polite but strained. 'Amicable' would mean people visibly liked you, whereas in this thread people visibly disliked you, but some of them made an effort to be polite about it. Not amicable at all.

Well, I would not say that my asking a question was trying to Dominate anyone, but I do think those, like Yourself, who attempt to force others to their way of thinking are trying to Dominate others. You, on the other hand, were apparently not able to accept differences of opinion and insisted that your way was the only right way. Very closed-minded. Not everyone uses Gor's rules of etiquette.

Also, I disagree with Your statement that all discussions are battles using words as weapons. Where someone is trying to force their way of thinking on the others involved, yes, then it could be called a battle. Maybe some people use words as weapons, OP, but many use words to enlighten themselves and each other, compare points of view, etc, without forcing the issue.

I do agree that before You can Dominate us, more is needed. Our consent. I said "the OP is trying to Dom us all," I did not say You are Domming us all. Underlining added for emphasis. Just because You start a thread, it doesn't mean You are automatically right and get the last word.....it doesn't work like that on this little corner of planet Earth. Finally, I have to say that I agree with Julia.

Excuseeeeeee me in Europe we don’t go topless at public pools we only go topless on the beaches.

Just needed to sort that bit of misinformation out ;-)

Cheryl

Cherylmazana -> RE: Having the right vs being in the right (Rant) (9/12/2010 3:49:21 AM)

Vran isn’t trying to get people to conform to Gorean etiquette, he is trying to get everyone to conform to his own brand of etiquette, after all if you ever read the Gorean forum you will realise the majority of us quite enjoy being rude to outsiders. It gets rid of the wimps quickly, and then we can have fun carving up the stronger ones slowly, those that survive we usually get along with quite well and encourage them to join in with the general rudeness.

It saves replying to the same “how do I become a true Gorean slave/master” for the 400th time that year, so is quite practical really.

I suspect there is a great deal of buried sadism in Gorean’s who post a lot, well all apart from me, I am positively angelic and rarely eat human body parts, though they are quite nice lightly barbecued with a nice bourbon based marinade. I just blame it on the giant bugs and plead insanity that works quite well.

I can't help but notice your picture.

Are you aware your eyes are looking DIRECTLY at the camera? They should be lowered.

You will never be a true Gorean slave with a picture like that!

To the OP,

I see, doing a little perusing throughout the boards, that a deification ceremony is in order.

You must be very proud. And right. We can never forget the right-ness of it all.

I'm still a little creeped out about the no-shirt thing, but as you are ascending the CM-throne, I suppose we will have to get used to it.

It's only right.

And rudely misquoted for added politeness and phantasmical embellishments!

P.S. The Goreans assimilated Jeff. Resist the temptation to stare "DIRECTLY" into the anteater's charming eyes or you are doomed.
