This is truly horrific to contemplate. If it is true, even remotely, it will set the peace process back to square one. The Afghanis civilians wont forgive or forget, thereby putting the lives of every allied soldier at way more risk than at present.

They're all lunatics....Afghans....Yank soldiers....British soldiers....you name it...if the mad fuckers want to keep body parts and kill one another....then get on with it and do it.....help yourselves....they want to spread democracy/kill each other/some other term that means pretty much the same thing...........then fewer idiots in the world.....

I'm sure I'm not the first to pose this:

But can you imagine....a piece of cloth.....gotta fight for that.....I mean....my life for a piece of cloth...fair trade....when I get there...fuck the cloth I'm in it for me mates....slow down....we can be in it for our mates at home....in the pub...with no one trying to take me head off me shoulders...beggars belief really.....

'Peace process'?.....the final act more like...when they leave....then you'll have peace....it ain't a process....

hertz -> RE: US Troops kept body parts (9/9/2010 1:50:00 PM)

The sad thing is, I should be surprised by this story, but somehow I am not.

In charge sheets obtained from the US Army, Staff Sgt Calvin Gibbs, Cpl Jeremy Morlock, Pte First Class Andrew Holmes, Specialist Michael Wagnon and Specialist Adam Winfield are accused of murdering male Afghan civilians with grenades and firearms.

I hate sloppy writing like this.  Just WHO had the grenades and firearms?

Overall, it is horrible.  However, it really is nothing new in war.

I doubt that it would set back the peace process though.

A little bit of Kipling for you all:

When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains
An' go to your Gawd like a soldier.
Go, go, go like a soldier,
Go, go, go like a soldier,
Go, go, go like a soldier,
        So-oldier of the Queen!

It is from "The Young British Soldier," if anyone wants to look up the whole thing.

Eventually, this kind of thing will happen in any army of any nation in any theater.Doesn`t matter who.The stress for some GI`s is un-believable and will break men(and woman) sometimes. Not a matter of if but when.

truckinslave -> RE: US Troops kept body parts (9/9/2010 3:02:08 PM)

There have been oher false charges. Here's your chief witness:

Cpl Morlock's lawyer told the Seattle Times his client's statements were made while he was suffering from concussion, was under the influence of prescription drugs, and was being evacuated.

It sounds to me like Cpl Morlock found himself a way not just out of theater but out of the service.

How desperately you lefties cling to any charges against the troops you claim to love.

Moonhead -> RE: US Troops kept body parts (9/9/2010 3:07:53 PM)

The lefties don't want them out there, getting shot, maimed and generally fucked over for no good reason. The righties on the other hand have no problem with that. Given that the half bearded halfwit you invaded the country looking for hasn't been seen in Afghanistan for about five years now, why are you so keen to see the troops kept there?

I am not suprised you are trying to change this to a possible left right issue, thats your style all over. Here is a small fact for you though, I am only posting what is reported to have happened. I also used the caveat "If it is true"

As for Cpl Morlock, he has been charged with three murders, so his lawyer would be trying to claim he didnt say what he said, wouldnt he.

For some strange unknown reason this story reminds me of that BBC Three programme: "Kill it, cook it, eat it."

If you had been following this story, which first broke in May, you would know it is more likely a defense theory presented by the attorneys for Murlock and the others to discredit the witness.

If the military investigators had agreed we would not be talking about this.

By the way, why must you turn everything into a left/right issue?

Army spokeswoman Major Kathleen Turner told the BBC the cases were in a preliminary phase of investigation and military prosecutors had yet to decide whether to move ahead with proceedings.

It a sensational story, and therefore a sensational headline that plays to many peoples prejudices.

I'd wait for more facts to come out before I made any kind of conclusion.

Politesub53 -> RE: US Troops kept body parts (9/9/2010 5:04:14 PM)

I agree Firm, read my second link in post eight though.

My point was, that if true, it puts all allied troops in danger and sets things back many years. From what I have found on the net, the story comes from the Army Times, hardly a biased left wing publication.

Edited for spelling.

thornhappy -> RE: US Troops kept body parts (9/9/2010 6:17:23 PM)

I know someone who (with others) disposed of dead enemy bodies at their base with explosives.  He took pics.  I've seen them.

pahunkboy -> RE: US Troops kept body parts (9/9/2010 6:28:05 PM)

Man.   Yous thought "I" was a conspiracy theorist.

It is no big deal.

Is is bushes 3rd term.

I dont know why this would bother anyone.   It isnt like is the democrats get in- the war will REALLY be over.

What for?  Faster cremation?  I know that human bodies do not burn very well.

Since you obviously question the validity of the charges why didnt you reflect some of that doubt in your thread title.

Don't know if it was easier to dispose of them in parts, or if it was done for effect.  He did freak us out, though.

If you could have just the tiniest bit of empathy perhaps you would understand what this means... if you thought someone kept your wife, child, sister, brother, friend's body parts... how would you react to that...

Consistently you show a lack of empathy towards other people

If you read the BBC link, and saw the title they had given it, you would realise I had. I`m not suprised this was the only comment you could make though.

Im not questioning the validity of the charges, I expect your military to have done that already. I did however, say if this is true, since the soldiers havent been tried yet.

Sanity -> RE: US Troops kept body parts? (9/10/2010 3:16:22 AM)

Oh, Im sorry. I didnt realize they were your and rudesubs body which were kept (allegedly).
