I awoke to the sound of shouting outside my door
Turned the tv on, and stood there rooted to the floor
By the beauty of the airplane's graceful flying
And the burning buildings along the river's shore

I stayed home and cried, just watching throughout the day
Trying to find an answer, or the words with which to pray
Could almost hear the sound of the people dying
In the burning buildings seen from across the bay

Heard his voice break, the children sitting by his knee
What will become of them all, down in the land of the free
All around the world, people are crying
As the burning buildings collapse into debris

Please someone explain it to me, if you think you can
What drives someone to do these things to their fellow man
In that moment there was no way of denying
That the burning buildings made us all American

I dropped off a few pots of  mums at the local fire station today, in remembrance of the fallen heros.

May Ann and Joe, two colleagues who perished about the flight that hit the Pentagon, rest in peace.

May Brian, a childhood friend who died at the Trade Center in the line of duty as a police officer, rest in peace.

May all those who died on that grim day rest in peace.



I find myself this day pondering the words of Barrows Dunham:

Now, therefore, since the struggle deepens,

Since evil abides and good does not yet prosper,
Let us gather what strength we have,
what confidence and valor,

That our small victories may end in triumph,

And the world awaited be a world attained.

In which case there is much truth in the saying; live each day as if it was your last. If we considered each day as our last, would we at all be bothered about terrorists and their actions, we have to die sometime.

To be very honest here I will say that I cannot imagine losing a loved one from the results of that horrific tragedy that befell our Nation on 9/11. How can anyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion etc. not understand the depth of sorrow that rang out on that day AND has continued to call us to a place where words fail us at times to explain what our hearts feel remembering the horror of that day?

I only believe/pray for Healing. Without Healing there will never be Peace. Wounded hearts take time to heal. Peace as a principle is honorable. I applaud Peace. But honestly speaking I believe sensitivity for those who suffered and die & those who lived MUST never be forgotten. Else how can we as a Nation talk about lasting Peace when the hearts and minds of those who survived and the families & loved ones of those that did not survive be forgotten like ashes to squabble over in the form of acreage. Without compassion how can anyone Heal?

As I stated, without Healed hearts there will NEVER be lasting peace. How could I not understand the woundedness of those who endure daily the gross loss on that horrific day, 9/11. And to think the people who were attacked were simply at work. Imagine that, work. Indeed, much to ponder!

Status: offline 		I'm not an American, and as such I feel a bit like trespassing here. But I hope you'll let me share my deepest sympathies for the victims and their families and friends. As far as I'm concerned, that day our nationality didn't play any role; innocent people died en masse in a horrible attack, and I, and those around me, felt shock and a deep anger towards those that brought about such terrible misery.
