I don't walk right, not like I used to
There's a jump in my step as I rush to see you
I could be happy here as long as you're near to me
As long as you're close to me
Now that I'm alright (as i'm trying) I can help you
out ( just to keep things right)
I'll be what you need (I kill myself to make
everything perfect for ya)
Goodbye apathy, goodbye apathy

One Republic-Goodbye Apathy

[Dedicated to the memory of John Kelly]

"Say hey Johnny boy, the battle call.
United we stand, divided we fall.
Together we are what we can't be alone,
We came to this country, you made it our home.
This man so humble, this man so brave.
A legend to many, he fought to his grave.
Saved family and friends from the hardship and horror, in a land of depression he gave hope for tomorrow.
Say Johnny, me boy, this ones for you.
With the strength of many and the courage of few.
To what do we owe this man who's fight was for the masses, he gave his life.
Say hey Johnny boy, the battle call United we stand, divided we fall.
Together we are what we can't be alone, we came to this country, you made it our home.
A friend to the locals who dabbled in crime.
He'd give you a job and he'd give you his time.
He wasn't a crook, but he couldn't be conned.
John knew the difference
Between right and wrong.
Say Johnny me boy, you live no longer,
Others forgotten, your memorys stronger.
Lets drink to the causes in your life:
Your family, your friends, the union, your wife.
Say hey Johnny boy, the battle call.
United we stand, divided we fall.
Together we are what we can't be alone.
We came to this country, you made it our home.
And the boys on the docks needed John for sure.
When they came to this
country he opened the door.
He said "Man I'll tell ya, they don't like our kind.
Though it starts with a fist it must end with your mind."
Say hey Johnny boy, the battle call.
United we stand, divided we fall.
Together we are what we can't be alone.
We came to this country you made it our home."

"I know something about opening windows and doors
I know how to move quietly to creep across creaky wooden floors
I know where to find precious things in all your cupboards and drawers

Slipping the clippers
Slipping the clippers through the telephone wires
The sense of isolation inspires
Inspires me

I like to feel the suspense when I'm certain you know I am there
I like you lying awake, your baited breath charging the air
I like the touch and the smell of all the pretty dresses you wear
Intruder's happy in the dark
Intruder come
Intruder come and leave his mark
leave his mark

I am the intruder"

An argument for consciousness
The instinct of the blind insect
Who makes love to the flower bed
And dies in the first freeze
Oh I want to learn such simple things
No politics, no history
Till what I want and what I need
Can finally be the same
The arc of time, the stench of sex
The innocence you can't protect
Each quarter note, each marble step
Walk up and down that lonely treble clef
Each wanting the next one
Each wanting the next one to arrive

I Believe In Symmetry - Bright Eyes

Its St Patty's day and I all sorts of gots my Irish up

"I am, I am, I am
I said I wanna get next to you
I said I gonna get close to you
You wouldn't want me have to hurt you too, hurt you too?
I ain't, I ain't, I ain't
A buyin' into your apathy
I'm gonna learn ya my philosophy
You wanna know about atrocity?

I know you want what's on my mind
I know you like what's on my mind
I know it eats you up inside
I know, you know, you know

I am a man, a man
I'll give ya somethin' that ya won't forget
I said ya shouldn't have worn that dress
I said ya shouldn't have worn that dress

Here I come, I come, I come"

You’re the train inside my tunnel
You’re the finger in my glove
You’re the gear stick in my gearbox
My god this must be love

You’re the drill inside my cavity
You’re the handle in my broom
The lead that fills my pencil
I’m your gate and you’re my boom

You’re the carrot in my crisper
You’re the ladder to my loft
You’re the pistol in my holster
Mind you don’t go off!

You’re the sword inside my scabbard
The sausage in my hotdog
You’re the French stick in my basket
You’re my snake and I’m your log

You’re the eel that swims my waterhole
The utensil in my drawers
You’re the cork that seals my bottle
Yes it’s you that I adore

In my engine you’re the piston
You’re the toothpaste in my tube
The zucchini in my fettuccini
Oh I’m so in love with you

You’re the rat inside my drainpipe
You’re the log that burns my fire
The banana in my smoothie
Yes it’s you that I desire

You’re the bottle in my cooler
The plunger in my loo
Your torpedo fills my submarine
Yes my darling I love you

Ok ok, You got me! This is really a poem, not a song.
But one of these days, Im gonna get on stage and
sing it to the tune of  Drop The World.
And I'm gonna do it nekkid!

"How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here."

Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd

I set my course
Sailed away from shore
Steady steady as she goes
I crash in the night
Two worlds collide
But when two worlds collide
No one survives
No one survives
And
The reddest of reds
The bluest of blues
The saddest of songs
I'll sing for you
And
My biggest fear
Is if I let you go
You'll come and get me in my sleep

The Saddest Song: Morphine

I was peaking
But it hasn't happened yet
I haven't been given
My best souvenir

I miss you
But I haven't met you yet
I know your habits
But wouldn't recognize you yet...
-Bjork / I Miss You

PS.  Guys, Gals, Sluts and Aggressors: please - PLEASE - do NOT post entire lyrics to songs here on my thread.  Just the relevant content or perhaps a link to the video (mmm, visual graffiti), people will go look up the rest if they like.

Merci beaucoup!

But what if the whole song captures the zeitgeist of the day?

Not trying to be contrary, but...
Sometimes for me it's a lyric, sometimes it's a line, sometimes it's the music. Some days an instrumental best captures my mood (Listen to Jessica by the Allmans on a beautiful spring day when you are in a good mood and tell me it doesn't just damn near make you bust with joy at being alive.), others maybe just one line (Like hearing Axl scream " I wanna watch you bleed." some days when I'm pissed).
That's when and what I post.

"Mama always told me not to look into the eyes of the sun....
But, Mama, that's where the fun is."

Bruce Springsteen

If you could only see the beast you've made of me
I held it in but now it seems you've set it running free
Screaming in the dark, I howl when we're apart
Drag my teeth across your chest to taste your beating heart

My fingers claw your skin, try to tear my way in
You are the moon that breaks the night for which I have to howl
My fingers claw your skin, try to tear my way in
You are the moon that breaks the night for which I have to

howl, florence and the machine and because my plaything is very much governed by the moon and he's kinda set alot free in me.

oh and he has such a sexy full moon that i'm always happy to howl at hhhhhooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.

I am not one to argue that an entire 3.5min of musical expansion might very well give further definition to these little white boxes.  Add a link to the song or the video and for those that want to dive deeper - they can.

However, this particular thread is for moments in time.  Limited to the crucible of emotion that I'm hoping people will share. /g/

The rising of the hand - The follow through - But it's the moment of impact across the cheek that leaves us with a moment of clarity.

erm, as a moment in time i'm hardly likely to be thinking of a line from a song. my moments in time are very specific and maybe more emotion based. it's your thread true, but as with any thread you can not control how people view it and thus post.

maybe it's just me but i have no idea what you are actually getting at. if you mean you want people to crop songs/poems and what-have-you down well fine. but then what happens if it's the whole thing that speaks to them?
