I used to once or twice. Val was much more into it and still makes the weapons sometimes.

Nah, I was briefly involved with Vampire the Masquerade LARP when I was a teenager. However in hindsight, I cannot imagine a greater waste of personal time or resources than to get involved with another LARP group. Wait, there is one!! That would be renaissance faires and the SCA. They would ultimately have to take the cake when it comes to wasting valuable and precious time that cannot ever be reclaimed.

Dude, comparing Vampire the Sad Parade and other White Wolf products to respectable, wholesome, all-American D&D campaigns is a good way to get pimp slapped upside your head.

I believe you have me confused there, buddy. I never once mentioned D&D campaigns. I mentioned Vampire the Masquerade, Renaissance Faires and the SCA. As for comparisons, a good old fashioned sit-down cyberpunk, rifts, or shadowrun campaign can compete with a D&D campaign if done correctly. Regardless though, ultimately it is all a waste of personal time, energy and resources that can be put to better use elsewhere.

Poppycocks.  While classmates were playing football or getting laid or getting into good colleges, I was watching Weird Science for the 27th time and developing a level 19 Tinker Gnome and perfecting my Kender taunt for my 15th level Kender thief named Thistleswatch Pennypuncher (playing in simultaneous Dragonlance campaigns wot wot give it up) and I stand by those decisions.

Indeed.  And the Surge--that strange and wonderful mid 90s energy drink that was translucent green and boasted openly that it had "More Potassium than a baked potato."  Good times, good times.

Of course to be really hardcore you also need a big bottle of Jolt Cola in the middle of the table, dot matrix printouts of ansii porn lying around, and a They Might be Giants bootleg album blaring in the background.

This is all way off-topic, natch, but the fact remains that lo-fi roleplaying is the only kind of roleplaying for me.

i do LARPs, they are fun with the right people. But, table-top is good too. You go through less sun-block that way.

Master misses Surge.

It is the only way... if you're a quadriplegic.   Then again, I've been known to dress up like a weirdo and hit people with sticks, then come home, get my dice out and roll to hit goblins with swords.

I've done LARPs like V:tM and other White Wolf games, but I never got into the boffers. However, my husband and best friend both enjoy Dagorhir. There are a couple of Dag groups in our area. I've got a garage full of PVC pipe and foam padding waiting to be turned into boffer weapons whenever my husband has the time.

I have done a little Amtgard before, I liked it for it's option for 'fantasy-free' play in the quick team game formats.

We both participate in Larps of all kind. I have been in the SCA for going on 10 years, I have done many Ren Faires, going to TRF a couple of times in the next few months, and we just started a new Amtgard group in our area. I also play old school, D&D, matter of fact we have 2 games running right now, a Dragonlance Krynn 3.5 game, and a Werewolf the Forsaken game, we also are the president and VP of the Gamers org at our college...we started college late, but its so much fun and the scenery is nice! Also he wrote his own larp as an independent study and is promoting it to Steve Jackson games. So yea we game.

Me and My friends just hit each other with sticks...don't know what "role" we're supposed to be playing out, other then a dude in a foot ball helmet and a stained pair of boxers with a foam covered pvc pipe with one of those hulk hand things on the end beating the shit outa my close friend who is also wielding what can only be described as an abstract foam covered version of one a those ridiculously large anime swords...

"Hulk smash"-thwack-"hu-THWACK-hu-Thwack-hulk smash"
