truckinslave -> S Angle just picked up another 5% (9/14/2010 4:30:47 PM)

Has Dingy Harry lost his mind, or is he waving the white flag??

He just added the DREAM Act to a defense appropriations bill. Talk about out of touch and tone deaf.
This crowd is determined to govern against the will of the American people, and they have 7 more weeks to do so.

Story here

I seen that.   What a move.  argh.

Those lovely machines tho- you know- they broke in NY today.  So all is not well for diebold.

maybemaybenot -> RE: S Angle just picked up another 5% (9/14/2010 4:47:07 PM)

He's doing it to pick up the Hispanic vote, imo. He admits it probably won't pass as he doesn't think he has the votes. But he can stand tall and say I tried.

Tea party candidate Christine O'Donnell just won the primary in Delaware.

Have any of you actually read the DREAM Act?

Part of it, states (and paraphrasing it), that an illegal immigrant that serves in the US Military and discharged with an honorable discharge, becomes a US Citizen. So yes, that part could easily be understood why its included in a defense bill.

The orgins of this Act, are a rehashing of Student Adjustment Act, of 2001 (a Republican controlled House, as its H.R. 1918).

But do read the wikipedia link, as I find that rather agreeable. Someone serves out their 'time', by paying a US institution of higher learning student fee's & books, gets a degree, and lives here in the USA. Or, we can up the entry requirements for the US Military to a pre-2002 level for soldiers (so we dont have quite a many 1st-3rd time offenders). Either way, the person benefits the USA.

Spare me the racist crap, and just explain to me, why this isn't a good idea? To have this Act passed?

Another Democratic Senate seat saved.

brainiacsub -> RE: S Angle just picked up another 5% (9/14/2010 6:29:07 PM)

I agree, Ken. Independents and even many conservatives won't vote for her come Nov. We can only hope that all the Tea Party candidates win their primaries.

I think it is a good idea, it's always bothered me how children who are brought illegally to the US can suffer so much for the criminal activity of their parents.

I wonder if you realize how incredibly sad that statement sounds.

Careful what you wish for, Brainia. You just might get it.

servantforuse -> RE: S Angle just picked up another 5% (9/14/2010 7:25:16 PM)

Voters supporting tea party canditates will not be sitting this one out. They also won't be voting for democrats..

brainiacsub -> RE: S Angle just picked up another 5% (9/14/2010 7:27:32 PM)

Are you watching the news coverage of this tonight, Rich? Most mainstream GOP pundits believe these Tea Party candidates cannot win in the general election come Nov. The people who tend to vote in the Primaries are the most extreme of their party. Independents, which make up the largest voting block, could not vote. Even the Republicans know this.

Shame on you for doubting it.

servantforuse -> RE: S Angle just picked up another 5% (9/14/2010 7:30:54 PM)

Those very same pundits said that Christine O'Donnell didn't have a chance. Her opponent Mike Castle had a 40% point lead. I guess we will see in a very short 49 days.

TheHeretic -> RE: S Angle just picked up another 5% (9/14/2010 7:39:07 PM)

I very rarely watch the talking heads, Brainia, so that would be a "no." Besides, I'm sure I can count on Basiji and co. to tell us all how awful they are.

If they have a base of motivated voters, things can get very interesting.

I only wonder whether you understand that the teabaggers are dividing your party.

Its the RINOS who are dividing the Republicans.

Tea Partyrs are working towards restoring Conservatism so there is a distinction between the two major parties and that voters can actually have a choice.

Isn't labeling a large percentage of your own party as not being worthy of calling themselves Republicans dividing the GOP?

Joether, the U.S. has been giving U.S. Citizenship to foreign nationals who are willing to serve in our military for 50 years or so, WAY before this "Dream Act" was a twinkle in Harry the Hat's eye. Those are two seperate issues!
Obviously they included this in "The Dream Act" to try to make it more,..."palatable."
When the "Dream Act" fails to pass we'll *still* be giving U.S. Citizenship to foreign nationals who are willing to serve in our military.
Harry the Hat just handed Angle the election.

First of all, I don't have a party.

Second of all, I been telling dipshit democrats out here for a good while that you should be loving tea party folk - at least for now.

If Angle beats reid, lower case intended, now that would be just fucking awesome.

You don't listen well, do you rlm? I like seeing them all fall.

Mainstream GOP pundits, and for that matter, left wing pundits haven';t been right on much at all this election season.

If there's shame involved, it's hoping a majority of people divide themselves so the sorry pieces of shit in office can stay there.

I swear to God, it's like vote for me, I SUCK less than the other one.

And, I'm independent. I'll vote for one them if they're running against an incumbent.
